I´d suggest this instead:
- Opted for the newer skylake tech - even if it doesn´t have 8 threads, performance is close in most programs
- Added lightning fast M.2 SSD (award winning 950 Pro from Samsung)
- Added ultrawide ips monitor that offers 2k resolution (GTX 970 can handle 2k)
- 150 AUS cheaper - if you want further upgrade - consider upgrading to GTX 980TI (programs that allows video rendering will benefit and for obviously gaming will allow for even better frames, higher settings and 4K )
- Dropped the wifi-adapters. Get a cable - and otherwise I hardly see a reason going for 2 adapters.
File sizes, and effects used? Do you know how to properly edit in 1080p? You want to transcode all media to DNxHD, smaller files, no quality loss, easier to edit with.
its gaming videos for youtube so minimal effects filesize depends on the video

Go with i5-6600K.
just don't want to regret not upgrading but then again there are probably gonna be new products releasing in the future
Look at a 4 year old i5-2500K sandycore cpu - still going strong today and won´t bottleneck any GPU.
It´s safe to say that i5-6600K Skylake CPU should be great for the next 2 years with another 2 years before needing an upgrade.
For youtube videos, you´ll never need more - for gaming, there´s no reason to believe games in the forseeable future will have great gains from more than 4 cores. In fact anandtech made a report, showing that more than 4 cores was actually hurtful in alot of DX12 tests.
Maybe buy a liquid cooler for your CPU in case you want to OC?
I already included a hyper evo 212 air cooler.
Liquid cooling is mostly a hobby - and it doesn´t come cheap.
Cheap liquid coolers are usually load, low performance and some have risks of leaks.
True that,
But i would'nt use a AirCooler if i wanted to overclock don't know if he's planning to do that.
and btw he has a Noctua NH-U14S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler which is around 100 AUD for around 50 more he could get a H100i which is a good and reliable liquid cooler.
So whats up suzuki? ive got plenty of examples with no difference in games at same clock speed.
Youre full of shit. Its terrible advice, its significant savings people could be putting towards their video card.
It's off topic. But are you really recommending an i5 over i7, for video editing?
Not necessary, Unless he is some professional on editing, An i5 would do fine, but still an i7 can produce better performance. Anyways, Parts are within budget including a better display for price. Still, an i7 is in reach including 980 from Geforce.
Hi guys thank you for all the replies so far this is the build i've come up with http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/P8xsqs should i get a 970 now and upgrage to one of the new pascal cards releasing sometime this year or extend my budget a bit and get a 980ti i bought a 1440p monitor btw if that info helps
The build looks both lean and solid. I like the power supply ratio.
The Asus board allows for XMP RAM settings and auto tune overclocking in the eufi bios.
Your air cooler let's you grab a .8GHz increase pretty easily.
The 980Ti will let you do 1440p easily.
The new Pascal/HBM cards will start at the top end and be expensive.
You can coast right by that and wait for the second generation of price reduced or feature enhanced cards.
I've got a 4560x1600 monitor and I love it. After the box is built that and the keyboard/mouse/headphones
are your computer experience.
