I have a $2000 Z97 build that I have been working on here it is http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bmBkRB I think it's pretty good but now that X99 has been out I've been hearing a lot of good things about it and I was wondering if I should go for a X99 build or stay with mine. If x99 recommend me one, preferabley on pcpartpicker. But if Z97 is the choice give me advice on my build. Thanks Hope to hear a lot of answers!

Depends on what the system is going to be used for. Gaming and every day usage - Z97. Rendering and content creation - X99. The main reason I say this is how expensive DDR4 is at the moment.

As far as your proposed build - it looks good with a few things I would change. One is the motherboard is overkill and the BD-R burner is not necessary. I would also go with a strong air fan like a Noctua D14 or Phanteks TC14PE over a closed liquid loop.

The i7 is amazing and enables a great versatility, not just gaming, same with 16GB. Plus those two together allow for "future prevention."
Blu-ray burners will be needed in the coming years, and I have had to burn some. HDMI isn't difficult to use, and just about anything will have it nowadays. And no you don't need HDMI, I play Blu-Ray on my monitor and I use DVI for it.
The 970's I put on here have great reviews and I have had no problem with mine. The motherboard is still a good motherboard. It may not be one that allows triple SLI, but is that really necessary?
My personal rig is jsut like this only with one less GPU and a different storage config, and it works damn well, and is good for the $1200 I put into it on Black Friday.

Jeez.... At htat point don't you think it would be better to go Titan Blacks? Surely just two of those would provide similar or better performance, with less stuttering....

Titan blacks wouldn't perform better.

And there is no such thing as future prevention 😛 and by the time 16GB is needed for gaming, DDR3 will be way out of date. And HDMI has latency issues compared to other methods of connecting a monitor to your GPU.

Dude... You don't need HDMI, all you need is a decent resolution Digital Display of some sort... All Bl-Ray has that's special is that it is able to hold a lot more data. More data means higher resolution. It's that simple. Using something other than HDMI to connect your computer and monitor doesn't change that at all.
And there's no such thing as future-proofing, but you can still slow things like down and allow for upgrades later on, which is how you SHOULD design a computer.
And if you notice I said VERSATILITY! That means you can do things other than games. Which would be where that i7 and 16 GB of RAM come in. Sometimes people have extra tabs of [strike]porn[/strike] sorry, music, open, or a video playing or recording. It doesn't matter.
Besides, old RAM is still good, I know people who use DDR2 rigs that still kick ass.

Very true, but you still need an HDCP monitor in order to play blu ray... In order to pass the HDCP you need a "blu ray chip" in the Blu-Ray player itself, video card, any switches that switch the video before it gets to the monitor or the TV, and the monitor or the TV itself

And to play it through DVI you need an HDCP-DVI cord.

One important factor is that these graphic cards are huge and heavy. If your case is a tower case the cards will sag because of the weight in a short time, giving rise to a host of problems. I suggest a cooler master Haf xb evo. It is very easy to build on this case. Lots of room, good air flow. You can put a 200 mm on top.
The mobo remains horizontal and the video card sits vertical so no sagging. For the mob Asrock Extreme6is great value for money and it has ac wifi.

Here is my rig. Just exceeds you price target.

Your case isn't what causes the sag. It is your motherboard.
