Aww, c'mon now. My BA in criminal justice makes me have to chime in here. The system isn't that bad. The problem is, laws are made for everyone, but have to be applied to individual situations.

The system is good, and I believe in it. There are some flaws, but no system is perfect.

I sat on a Jury last year. The judge sent out a questioneer after the trial asking how was the experience pros/cons. I blasted the way He conducted the courtroom. I ended by stating I had lost faith in the Criminal Court system over the injustice that occured in the verdict. The experience was thoroughly disgusting.

I agree that no system is perfect and in comparison to other country's criminal/court systems, ours is an award winner. For example, if you get thrown in the slammer in Russia for something stupid or petty, there's a good chance you'll rot there for a few months until you can either bribe someone or your case is actually heard.

Part of my BA was putting in a certain amount of hours in the courtroom. In addition to that, I did my internship with a Judge. I got an up close and personal look at Circuit, District, Juvenile, Family, and Civil court. What we hear in the news, and open courtrooms are rarely the full story. The verdict and/or the sentence may not seem right, but you never know what the Judge and lawyers know. But those rules keep certain details out of play, to keep things from being biased.

Wow, I may have some questions for you in the future. We have suggested to my son he take courses in Criminal Justice, He's 18. The specific reason I was mad at the judge individually is He had the baliff print out tweleve copies of a very long list of charges and jury instructions with no page numbers. Take a couple of hundred page document and refer to it all afternoon without page numbers. I could have chosen to be foeman, I was asked and passed it off to a guy who was just awful. "Don't worry, He'll be punished for the main charge, no need to make it worse with the 15 other charges for him to deal with!" Hahahahahahaha! I voted with the cute Asian chick. Whatever she decided, I was right with her. I'm serious. That is how I decided to approach being a juror. If you are a looker and an airhead and I'm with you babe.

 Maybe that would explain some of the mind blowing jury verdicts I saw.

I enjoyed studying CJ. If it's of interest to him, there's a lot of areas within the CJ system. I'm not sure how much help I could be, but I'm always here for Q's.

I was just checkin' Johnny out after reading your sig. It's kreskinish I tell 'ya. Scot John and I have a lot in common. Scot Injuns. Plus I was born in June and his wife is June. I have fell into the ring of fire. And I know a rooster and hen named Johnny and June who hang out.

I like the top of your link, ABC news next to Cuomo on the case
I also like all the medias attention of all those poor convicts, and nor one mention of them getting their stimulus checks

My old theory of the island and laser beams still works, if anyones interested

On a federal level no. State level could be. I know around Las Vegas cocaine legalization has become a hot issue. If the politicians there want to attract people into the state who stay up all night taking crazy chances with their life savings why bother with pot.
