Hi, i had another thread in which i ended up choosing to get a 2060 i got for $340 brand new. I had a 950 before for years and have waited the last year for a good upgrade and the 2060 has been insanely good and can play any game at max settings with good fps finally. I’ve had a 950 since 2018 and haven’t had many issues with running games at 100 fps with a mix of settings so i’m sure the 2060 will be good for a while. For only $340 i don’t mind worse case scenario buying a better one in a few years However, my concern now is, should i have paid $100 more for a 3060 now? Just as a rough estimate, pc benchmarks show it to be 10-12% better than a 2060. Should i swap it to a 360 for the 450 price tag? Also, gpu prices aren’t going to go down much farther until 6+ months after the 4 series mid range cards come out so i’m fine with purchasing it now at msrp ish. Stick with 2060 or go to 3060 for $100 more?

Your money but you will not see the massive difference you saw going to the 2060
i dont expect a huge change i know that. just for roughly 100 bucks more it seems reasonable to get a 30 series now. i was thinking one like this possibly

MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 12GB 15 Gbps GDRR6 192-Bit HDMI/DP PCIe 4 Torx Twin Fan Ampere OC Graphics Card (RTX 3060 Ventus 2X 12G OC) https://a.co/d/gtJyl5a

I’m shopping myself currently. From what I can see it appears the 2060 is basically similar performance to a 3050. If you were still in the market a good halfway mark might have been the rx 6600. I’m considering used myself and maybe getting a 2080 or 2080 super.
i was looking at a 6600xt but i really don’t like the look of amd cards which sucks because they’re better than 2060s by a bit but i’ll probably stick with an rtx

I had a 6600xt during the mining craze and sold it for the extra cash. I liked the card ok. Drivers were a bit iffy at first but that was close to launch. Don’t know if anyone else has had this experience but it seems in the past that colors on and cards were a bit more vivid at times. In that segment though the 6600 just seem like a better value. But I will say nvidia seems to have better driver support typically.

In my opinion, there is little reason to "upgrade" from the RTX 2060 to 3060. To me, the extra 6GB of VRAM on the 3060 may come handy in some games like Watch Dog Legion where the Ultra quality image quality is going to demand more than 6GB. But you can easily get around the problem by dropping image quality settings by a notch, and/or, utilizing DLSS. For either cards, DLSS is going to be useful because upscaling technology to me benefits mid/ low end GPUs the most.
