Hello guys,
I hope you are doing well.

I'm in a bit of dilemma as I can get 2080TI MSI X Trio for 750EU second hand or 6800XT Merc 319 from XFX for 970EU.

I'm thin on budget and I'm quite torn as on one hand I'm saving around 30% of the cost, on the other hand it's quite old gpu with no warranty.

P. S. I plan to get 4K monitor by the end of the year, hence 4K ready GPU

Solution
You'll only get around 30% better performance with the 2080ti which to me is not worth the price tag (in my currency) £300 more.

The RX 6800 is faster on average, but not vastly so.

Also something that I forgot to mention, my planned case is Corsair D4000 and the maximum supported GPU length is 36CM whereas the card is 34CM, not sure if this could cause issues or even fit with a front case fan

Currently on a 1440p setup and looking to purchase a 4K one by the end of the year, this is also a point of financial concern as the money that I save from GPU I will add towards the monitor.

There is also the RDNA2 vs Turing. As far as I know DLSS is better than Fidelity FX. Not sure what the difference between RTX first gen vs ray tracing on RDMA but I mosly play WoW, which does not support RTX - only shadows, which is total gimmick. Thus I don't really care about FPS as long as it's above 60

WoW Shadowlands was optimized for AMD RX 6000 series cards. I have a 5800x and RX 6800, and get about 120fps, except in outdoor world raid bosses, when there are 40+ people going all out, or in big skirmishes in 40v40 battlegrounds. Ashran in particular is brutal. I play at 1440p. I would do a high refresh 1440p, over 4k, personally.

The 5600x is more expensive than the Intel i5-12600kf with less performance, this is why I went with intel. Yes AMD says that you get a benefit in pairing AMD CPU with GPU, but from everything that I have read it's a gimmick.

Though I'm a bit concern with tje P and E core design on legacy games, like heroes 3, diablo 2 (not resurrected) for example. What I read is that in general all is good with few exception where windows version plays a part. Ot switching to Win 11 btw
