24" 1080p vs 23.8" 1440p

Hello, I have been searching for a monitor that will compliment a GTX 1070 build and I have been left with two choices:

Asus ROG Swift PG248Q (24" 1080p)
Dell S2417DG (23.8" 1440p)

I am curious about what 1440p looks like on a 23.8 inch display; will it be much more noticeable than a 24" 1080p? I've heard that 1440p really only shines when its 27" or more?

I just wanted to know if there is a significant and WORTHWHILE difference in quality because if there's not, I don't see the point in spending a little extra money for 1440p.

If you are going to go 1440p, I would recommend going 27". Great resolution for the 1070.

A GTX 1070 is definitely overkill for 1080p, do as RobCrezz says and purchase the 1440p monitor.

Agreed. A 1070 is wasted on 1080p. Getting a 1440p monitor would be a much better use of your GPU. I also recommend 27" 1440p vs. 24".

If you can, try to pick up a 1440p 144hz or 120hz (the 120Hz monitors are rare for ANY resolution) monitor as it will serve very well ESPECIALLY in gaming. Hope this helps!
