I have been hunting for a new monitor for a few days now. I do a fair bit of gaming and some work from home. I am just looking for the most solid display for that price range.

My specifications I have been looking for are:
1 HDMI
1 DVI
5ms or lower
1920x1080

Here are the two I have had my eye on

In that price range, which would you choose? One of those two or something different?

Thanks

The Asus VW246H is currently not in stock, so if you really need it immediately then...

I actually have it's sister the VK246H. The only difference is the built-in webcam. I don't really use it much since it is an auxiliary monitor. I actually haven't turned it on in about 4 weeks (hope it still works).

Here is my review of the VK model; the last post in that thread has a link to a more professional review:

I am not in a huge hurry, just looking for the best bang for my buck. I know the ASUS is probably lower quality, and I would rather have the Samsung, but am just waiting for a good price to snatch it up.

The Asus VM and VK models are actually good for gaming since they both have nearly 0ms (okay it's roughly 1.8ms) of input lag which you can read about in the Prad.de link I provided in my thread.

In terms of quality, they are basically budget monitors with plastic casing and base. Samsung is better known, so they can charge a little bit more due to brand recognition.

Prad.de has a review for both monitors. Use them to decide between the two.

I just got a Samsung for work and love it. I also like HP, and have 3 at home and have not had any problems.

I avoid all Viewsonic's since I have had a lot of problems with them in the past.

Dell and Gateway also make some good monitors. With any of the 4 mentioned here you could not go wrong.

I think I am going to go with the Asus as I have seen it win some awards for best gaming monitor of 2009, as well as 2 customer choice awards on Newegg. I am just waiting for the free shipping and cheaper price to come back, or Friday, whichever comes first.
