Hello all!

So I am currently looking into upgrading my 24" 1080p panel to a 27" 1440p monitor. First of all, barring the resolution difference, is the uptick in screen space worth the upgrade alone? Has anyone made such a jump?

Other upgrades I'd be gaining would be VA (from TN) plus the aforementioned ~1.8X resolution.

Here's the monitor I'm looking at: https://www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MAG27CQ

Those few inches do make a sizable difference ( fill in your own puns and Carry On innuendoes here ) 😉
It doesn't really matter what you're doing; Games are that much more immersive because so much more of your vision is filled, same for movies, add a decent headset or sound system and it's much closer to the cinema experience while multitasking becomes so much nicer with crisp text and more room to juggle those open windows and apps.
With such a high quality display in mind, I think, personally, you'll really see and appreciate the difference.
For:

Greater clarity.
More room for multi tasking.
Superior viewing angles and colours, VA is still the leader for contrast and black depth which can really bring out the detail in games, movies and photos.
Higher refresh-I'll guess the current 1080 display is 60Hz-playing fast paces games at fast framerates AND high refresh is a real rush the first time you do it, FPS games take on a new urgency while the sense of speed in racing games and even combat flight simulations is...Well, a rush.
Curved screens add to immersion in games and movies.

And against:
Text in some programs can be a little small and hard to read.
All those extra pixels will increase render times and slow your games down if the main system isn't a very strong one-really you'll want a GTX1070 class of card to run this display as a minimum.
Not everyone can get on with curved displays, and it takes a little while to acclimatise, so you may want to check your suppliers returns policy beforehand, just in case.

Thank you so much for your reply. My current display is 144Hz so the higher refresh rate wouldn't be a game-changer, however, it is a necessity. In your opinion, does the ~25% increase in panel size have an impact or is it simply a largely unnoticeable difference?

Awesome, thank you! Really on the fence with this one haha.
