2500+ running at 1.5Ghz, not 1.83Ghz

Not sure if this is common, but my AMD 2500+ Barton CPU clocks in at ~1.5Ghz while the specs say that it's core speed should be 1.83Ghz. It's on Asus A7V8X-X motherboard, and it's temperature is around 95F. Any possible causes of this?

If it says it's running at ~1466MHz, you need to change the bus speed from 133 to 166MHz.

Check your FSB is at 166mhz(333) and not 133mhz(266) and also your multiplier should be 11

Get into the BIOS and set "CPU External Frequency" to "166/33".

Thanks, that helped. But now the temperature ranges between 115-125F, without any extra case fans. With one 80mm fan, I can drop the temp. range into 105-110F. I tried looking for recommended temp. ranges for 2500+ but couldn't find it at amd.com, does anyone know (roughly) the max recommended temperature? And is anyone aware of any places online which sell close to inaudible 80mm fans?

You should try to keep your cpu temp below 122f/50c, but if it's in a warm room that could be tough in the summer. The real test is if it crashes. The AMD chips can survive temps close to 185f before they melt.
