In some parts of the US, the wiring in the walls are rated for 20 amps but tied to a standard 15 amp circuit-breaker more as a precautionary measure, since some individuals would then inevitably try and replace the 15 amp CBs with 20 amp ones without upgrading the wiring. The local construction companies where I'm at slightly over-spec their wiring to handle limited future power upgrades by the home or business owners too.

However, that still wouldn't be enough to cover the power of this, assuming one would even want to run this behemoth in their home or business. Heck, I don't even get the use case at all. It's pretty risky betting everything on one PSU for that much power. I'd be more understanding if they somehow managed to squeeze two redundant server-grade PSUs into an ATX form factor similar to FSP's redundant 800w PSU.

If you need that much power, and can afford such a PSU and system, then spending a few hundred to get a 240V 20A outlet run to a room wouldn't be much of a bother. In the US or any other place.

That all depends on the existing infrastructure.

At least in the EU, replacing wiring in an older apartment building means:

- Running new cable from the room to the apartment entrance (needs wall drilling)
- Replacing apartment circuit breaker board
- Running new cables from the power meter at the base floor to the apartment (might need drilling in hallway)
- Replacing your apartment power meter (higher rated power)
- Replacing main circuit breakers at your power meter

In addition to a lot of money it requires some permits and paperwork, not to mention how big of a disruption it is to do it since it usually can't be done in a single day.

Yes, all of those things are possible. The technically focused to this extent are likely to not pick a living situation that would require all of that. And not something the typical renter should be doing at all. Of course a prudent person that was still wanting to build a system like this might consider renting space at a datacenter and accessing the system remotely. But at that point, might as well just buy an OEM machine with support, or rent a server with the same capabilities.
