2nd Monitor Resolution Issue

I'm trying to add a second monitor to my setup its an old one but i would like to add it anyway. I have my main monitor connected via DVI and the 2nd one connected via HDMI. When i had both monitors connected the 2nd was getting no signal and after a couple of minutes messing with display settings i noticed that im not allowed to set a resolution for my second monitor even though it is being detected by my pc. If you know how to fix this your help would be appreciated

it has a hdmi port on it
i have a gtx 1060 6gb
asrock h97m pro4
and i5 4460

Old monitors don't have HDMI ports on them.

it definitely has a hdmi port on it ad its a hannspree t191h

So some GTX1060, a hannspree t191h which I can't find online, some unknown monitor as your primary hooked up over DVI?

Have you tried unplugging the DVI monitor and just using the hannspree t191h? When I search for that monitor online it seemed to give a lot of results saying it was a TV. I would look through the settings on the hannspree t191h to see if you need to switch the input or something like that to HDMI, and try to get it working by itself.

What happens when you try to extend the monitor? Any error message at all?
