I currently run 2x256Mb sticks of Corsair PC3200LL (in the sig, along with all the other specs).

Now I've finally upgraded from 98SE to XP - so I don't have the RAM limitations of 98 any more - I'd like to go up to 1Gb.

Only thing is, I'm not too sure how happy my board will be with 2x256Mb in one channel and 1x512 in the other - especially considering it won't be exactly the same RAM...

I was thinking about this Corsair PC3200 Stuff: http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=114948&cks=PRL

Any thoughts? will it work in dual channel mode? Not that I actually care that much about DC anyway. I think the advantages of 1Gb over 512Mb for gaming will outweigh the very minimal performance loss, however I'm not sure if you can switch Dual channel off that easily (I can't recall seeing a BIOS option, and can't be bothered to check ATM)

I had 3x256 and it "reported" to be dual chan. Prolly will be the same in yer case.

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...

I just tried that last weekend with my rig (see my sig). I put a 512MB stick of Corsair Value ram in with my twinx stuff.

Worked fine, just way looser timings (and I'm still using 98se). The two 256MB sticks work together in DC with the one 512MB stick.

Strange, I always thought 98 Couldn't support more than 512Mb RAM.....

No matter, XP fixed a few weird problems I was having with certain games, so I'm happy there - and it's too late now anyway!

How much looser did you have to make the timings? As you can see in the sig, my present stuff is pretty damn good in that department.
