Topic says it all... Which of these 2 configs gives best performance for gaming (COD2/FEAR/Oblivion) at 1600x1050 on 20" Widescreen and also some DVD viewing.

Want to stay around $350.

Would a single 7600GT choke at this resolution?

Antec P180
Antec TruePowerII 550W
2 GB OCZ Plat or Corsair XMS
EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" or SLI depending on card

PSU adequate for SLI?

Also...

eVGA vs. XFX vs. BFG...

Opinions?

hmmmm 1x7900GT is better i guess... not all games take full advantage of SLI, so if you're planning to buy both at a time, you better get one 7900

I actually thoight of SLI - I have a 7600GT, but I might just trade up. I bought an SLI board... the idea was to SLI when the 7600GT was around $100 or a little over...

I don't game that much.

Well two 7600GT's beat a 7900GTX ....so that should say something.

I'm probably get a 7900GT though. Because later on when they drop in price, you can add another one and be right back up there in the top range.

If you do go 7600GT though, get the XFX XXX edition 7600GT's. They're running at 590/1600....best 7600GT you can buy, and at newegg you can get one for 199 and a 30 dollar rebate...so 169...best price.

Because that worked so well with the 7800GT.

Once a 7800GT is in the price range of a poor person like me, it will be outperformed by whatever's the mid-range card at that time. Just look at the Radeon 9800Pro

You'd have your best bet with dual 7600 GT. If you only want a single card solution, I'd check out that X1800 XT someone pointed out if you're mainly going to be doing FEAR. Otherwise, if you can live with not having 32X AA turned on (aha ha ha), snag the 7900 GT. It's pretty comparable to the X1800 XT in CoD 2 and I'm guessing Oblivion (which has the best graphics of any game I've played so far, but not as shadow-y as FEAR). However, dual 7600 GTs won't give you the best performance, and it's a bit more, but I heard that SLI does wonders for large resolutions. Overall though, you can't go wrong with any of these solutions. You may not get 32X AA on any of them, but they will all perform extremely well. You won't be unpleased, so it's really up to you.

If you don't game that much, then SLI is totally pointless. A single 7900GT will be much better.

Well, I don't game much, but I DO GAME and like performance. I don't have any complaints about my 7600GT, but when I do, for a buck and change I can add another one. They have already dropped $20 since I first started specking out the card. Go tmine for $174 AR.

I think going SLI with 2 7600GT is a good idea when you buy one, but in the future you need more horsepower then you add a second one for cheap, as you said

but if you have the option and the money to buy one 7900 or 2 7600, buying 1 7900 would be better
