Hello!

I have a major problem with my new computer. When i start it up and coming into windows i get an alert from the corecenter that says that my 3,3v is to high ii is 4,02, what to do?

MSI K8N SLI Platinum Moderkort S939
nForce4 SLI,4xSATA2,GbLAN, Firewire

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 GHz Winchester
Socket 939, 512KB cache, BOXED

TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM 1024MB Dual Pack
Kit w/two matched PC3200 DDR DIMMs

Q-Tec Nätaggregat ATX 650W Gold
för PIII/AMD/P4, Triple Fan, 29db

Geforce 6800 gt 256 mb ddr3

Between my powersupply i have a adapter cable from 20 to 24 pin that is on my motherboard can that be the cause??

If you have a Q-tec PSU that might very well cause the problem. I wouldn't be surprised. The other options are that the mb is faulty or that the readings aren't correct. I wouldn't use it again until you get a good PSU to test. If the error remains I think its MB trouble.

Dang, I wish I would have had that problem in my BX overclocking days, I always had memory problems over 140MHz FSB using top quality PC133, because it ran off the 3.3v bus and couldn't be adjusted upward!

Oh, I think it COULD damage something, but I also think it would have been handy back in the days of 3.3v RAM for increasing overclocking potential!

The 3.3V comes directly from the PSU, no way to decrease it unless you have a certain type of Antec PSU, which you don't. So really, don't use that PSU until you can borrow another one to test what goes wrong because a lot of hardware won't like high 3.3V.

Antec? No. Fortron Source has the voltage adjustments.

You can't.

Fortron Source has provided potentiometers for years. Their adjustment is somewhere around .5v as I recal, which is fine since their stock settings are fairly close to begin with.

I haven't seen pots in any of my other power supplies, just those sourced from FSP (under various brand names). Now Antec has one too.

It doesn't bother me that Antec's using someone else's good idea, it's not like there was a patent on it.

i had a crappy deer psu that was putting out 4 volts on the 3.3 rail, it ran fine for a while but it got unstable so i replaced the psu and the computer is still running fine.

this is my boomstick!
