my new pc refuses to recognize my USB flash drives no matter how I format them. They show up just fine on Mac and i reformatted them from there and they still don't work. They don't show up in Device Manager or Disk Management and I don't know what to do.

Other peripherals that use usb work fine.

im on windows 8.1 any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solution

If you want to only fix your usb device drivers, plug in your usb into your computer with device manager open.
Right click on the first expandable option (should be your pc name)
Scan for hardware changes
Locate your usb device under "usb bus controllers" or its underneath this.
Right click those and update them, should be faster
i've tried 3 different drivers and they all do the same thing and i have to ctrl alt delete out of them. i have like 35 devices on my pc according to device manager do i really need to go through each one?

Ok, try to remember or write down the steps I listed above with the bios and device manager for reference in case others can't help you on it. Good luck and maybe i'll see you in the new thread
