3 power connectors on a server motherboard?

Hey guys, i was recently looking at server motherboards for a project and i found one that i like but it has 3 power connectors it has a 24pin a 6 pin and a 4 pin i was wondering if anyone knows what the extra 4 pin is for. Well judging by the 4pin connectors location, I would say its supplemental power for the pci slots. If you had a bunch add in cards in your pci slots or a few power hungry cards, they may need a bit of extra power which that 4pin would provide. I dont think its necessary to have plugged in.
