3-way crossfire question?

Okay I currently have two sapphire hd6950's that are not unlockable and are running great with the standard 1408 shaders, I want to upgrade to 3-way cf, however the card I'm looking at has unlocked shaders,but it also has dual crossfire connections that I need.will this cause a problem running a 3-way set up with the middle card being the flashed 6970(bios) with the top and bottom cards being standard 6950's? thanks for the help

It will, in theory, still work. Cards are designed to be crossfired with anything in their 'hundreds' series. So all 6X00 cards can be CF'd.

I have a 6990 crossfired with a 6970. The 6970 defaults to the slower speed of the 6990. Should be the same with 6950 and 6970.
