So I know this is probably an age-old question at this point and probably a very exhausted one at that but with the gouged pricings and raising prices going on nowadays I was looking into what I could potentially buy in the coming months for a upgrade; and also see what people might think is best at this point in time.
Currently my Rig is as is:
R7 3700X
32GB DDR4 3200 CL16 G.Skill Trident RGB Kit
EVGA GTX 1080 FTW
650W Sea Sonic FOCUS Gold Fully Modular PSU
ASUS PG279QZ Monitor (1440p144) and LG B9 OLED (4K120 or 1440p120)
I've been holding out on a GPU upgrade for quite sometime now, been using this GTX 1080 since my last Sandy Bridge build so it's been a few years already. When I initially built this in 2019 I've been saving some money since early last year for a new GPU upgrade but with the whole out of stock thing it's been quite a struggle obviously. Now I'm just seeing what could be the better bang for my buck purchase going forward. There's also a chance I'd have to upgrade my current PSU to a 750W/850W (depending what's in stock and more reasonably priced) if I do choose a 3080 so factor that into the price as well.
I game a decent amount with some FPS titles, I mostly play Warzone on the side and tried out recent titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, RE3, and I'm also looking forward to trying out Doom Eternal still and RE8 down the line. I noticed 1440p is starting to chug a bit on my old 1080 so now I'm just looking for a solid upgrade at this point complimenting the monitor specs in mind without being unreasonable with the price. I'm also factoring in trying out DLSS and maybe some Ray Tracing in select games to take more advantage of my 4K Panel down the line as well. What do you guys think? Thanks for reading me out! I know some would probably recommend a RX 6800 but unfortunately my current main monitor is tied to G-sync so I'm sort of forced into buying a nvidia card unless you guys can shed some light on that but I did my research regarding that issue and I came to that conclusion.
