Hi, I am in a scenario where I will be needing a new GPU, and it will be paired with my existing i5 12600k. I know the GPU price market is a hot topic at the moment, so I was wondering about some insight towards the smarter purchase here. The lowest 4070 price I have seen is $ 800 CAD. However, when looking further through listing of used 3080s, I have seen prices of $600 CAD.

I was wondering if the lower price is such a good margin that it makes sense to purchase the older card, or would it just be smarter to get the 4070?

Just my 2 cents, I'd skip out on used cards. I'd buy brand new, get the warranty and mental security with the card in case things go South for it/you.
Yeah that's the big issue for sure. Thanks for the input. I'm thinking just going for the 4070 at 800, but now am wondering if the Ti is worth the purchase at 1000 CAD. Again, I understand the market is not the best but is it worth to pay the extra 200 if i'm already shelling out 800, or is the extra boost not going to be so necessary. I play a wide variety of games at 1080p, looking to hop to 1440 or higher later though, running a 4 monitor setup, and the previous card was a 2070 Super.

Not a fan of 1440p. It's such a weird resolution.

I'm currently enjoying playing at 1080p, but if I ever want to increase the res (maybe around 2 years from now), I will go straight to 4K, starting with DLSS/FSR Balanced to 4K.
