3570K No overclock STILL crashes HELP!

I have an I5-3570k which is not overclocked. It is in a MSI Z77MA-G45 motherboard. Everything is set to basic settings in the bios yet when I boot into windows, all apps including the chrome browser seems to crash on me.

It only works when I underclock it to 2.6ghz which is stupid.
I have a Corsair 750W PSU which runs perfectly and corsair vengeance 8gb. I have also tried several rams. Please help.

What CPU voltages does the motherboard show under load? If for some reason your motherboard is not giving adequate voltages even at stock settings it could cause instability.

You may also want to check your temperatures. If you are hovering around the max temperature, lowering the clock speed as you are might be just enough that keeping it from overheating. It is worth exploring all possibilities.

Latest drivers and bios, GTX770, 750W Corsair PSU, 8GB ddr3 vengeance, 2x500GB Hard drive, 720p 20' monitor.

Computer boots normally but as soon as any browser is used or any other app, the apps crash. No blue screen crash though.

Then somethings wrong with your OS drive - the drive itself or Windows.

You can try booting into safe mode (f8) and doing a computer repair. If it ever worked OK, you can do a System Restore.

If that doesn't fix it then you need to put in another PC and do a Checkdisk on it and a virus scan. If there's no problem there then download and use the manufacturer's diagnostic software to check the drive itself - Seagate: Seatools, wd: Lifeguard.

I am suspecting now it is the OS since you asked if the windows is legal. I bought the machine used from a mate. Told me at the time of purchase that he bought the windows from Amazon. Gonna kill him if he lied to me.

Checked with a fresh legal install of Windows 7. Problem is still there. The only way to solve this is to bring down the clock speed to 2.8ghz or lower. Has anyone got a clue what is causing this? PSU is tested and is working fine.

I tried two different motherboards but problem persists. I've taken the video card out but nothing still nothing. Only thing I haven't tried is to change the cpu.
What if the cpu is the problem?

Temperature was hovering around 80s when on Youtube which is why it kept crashing I think. What was the problem? It was the thermal paste. I'm an idiot. I've been using the same thermal paste throughout the troubleshooting. The thermal paste was faulty. It looked weird. Even changed colour.
