9600k (oc) or 3700x for new gaming system?

3700X, the 9600K is inferior with 6 cores and 6 threads compared to 8 cores and 16 threads.

I'd go 3700X.

Definitely would go with the 3700x. Even the 3600/3600x would be better, overall, as the 9600k appears to suffer from inconsistent frametime variance, according to Gamer's Nexus.
