Hey Guys,
I am a beginner. I really don't know anything about it. Here is my pc spec. Please take a look :
Processor : RYZEN 7 3700x
Motherboard : ASUS TUF Gamimg X570-PLUS (wifi)
Graphics Card: Shapphire Nitro Radeon RX 470 8GB (I am planning to buy a new one. Waiting for RTX 3000 release so that I can buy a 2000 series card.... :D;) )
Memory : (Geil DDR4 Super Luce RGB 3200MHz)x2 with D.O.C.P enabled
Boot Drive : Transcend NVMe 240GB
Power Supply: Thermaltake Smart SE 730W.
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Water 360. ( This is the cooler: https://www.thermaltakeusa.com/water-3-0-360-argb-sync.html)

I have run some basic testing. Like in R20 I am getting like 4500+ scores. While Testing my cpu temperature was 75°C. At idle condition, I get like 43°C to 54°C . Room temperature average 30°C.

Note: Now I don't want to do any extreme level overclocking. Like if I get 4.20 Gz. Or I get R20 score like 4800+ I will be really happy. Please help me out.

Basic overclocking of Ryzen is same as any other unlocked CPUs. First you ensure good cooling, CPU and case. You also have to understand that all CPUs are not created equal, some will OC better than others. Also, Ryzen is good at auto boost (PBO) where it boosts one core at the time and in 99% of cases your all core OC is good up to that boost frequency or a bit less, for 3700x that means 4.4GHz , mine is not stable at over 4.35GHz for love or money with any safe voltage. If you end up with all core OC less than 4.3GHz you will be loosing some single core performance.
First step is to raise multiplier by a notch, lets say to 40 and test for stability and temperatures. When that is acceptable raise another notch, note what auto voltage...

What is your CPU cooler? Before overclocking make sure your cpu's cooler can handle it.
If its the stock cooler i'd suggest to upgrade your cooler before you try overclocking.
By the looks of your temps you are indeed running a stock cooler.


If you have upgraded your cpu cooler:

But for a simple overclock you could try something safe like 4.1GHz with 1.3V on core.
If the overclock is not stable you can try to boost the voltage on small increments.
I would not suggest going over 1.3725V if you want to overclock it for everyday usage (meaning you'll not change the clocks once they're applied and confirmed to be stable)

If its stable at 1.3V you could try to decrease the voltage.
The less the voltage the lower the temps

I've got a 3700X on a B450m Mortar. It's hitting 5170 scores in R20 multi-thread, and more important 513 score in R20 single-thread. Not many all-core overclockers are seeing high scores in both multi- and single- thread and also operating with safe voltages.

Nothing wrong with your temperatures.

I didn't watch his video all the way through but it does look intriguing. He said, though, it would have best effect on multi-die CPU's (he was demoing on a threadripper system as I recall) because it's testing for optimal per-CCX overclocking. I'm not sure how much good it could do on a 3600...or 3700x for that matter...since these have one die (CCD) and two CCX's.

As that article noted, it's risky to try all-core overclocking Ryzen 3000 CPUS'. But I'm doing is PBO overclocking, which basically is tweaking boosting algorithm parameters.

The simple way is to first enable some settings in BIOS; all of these should be enabled: Cool n Quiet, Advanced C States, Processor CPPC and CPPC Preferred Cores.

After that, make sure CPU frequency and CPU Core Voltage are set on AUTO.

Then enable PBO for Manual settings. Set PPT setting to 333, EDC to 230 and TDC to 230. Set PBO Scalar to Manual and a setting of 5X.

That should get you started with some better Cinebench 20 scores. After that you can try setting a slightly lower VCore using OFFSETS ONLY! Go slowly; it's highly variable on CPU and motherboard. Going too low may look good but it will kill single thread boosting which is critical for gaming performance. So be sure to test for Cinebench 20 single thread before declaring it good to go.

After tha you cany try lowering voltage until it gets unstable.
