I ordered a Ryzen 3900x from Amazon.co.uk on 7 July 2019 (i.e. release date) for £480 and it's still not been delivered.

Has anyone ordered from Amazon.co.uk and received a 3900x yet? I see that they're listing the processor as 'in stock' with Amazon EU S.a.r.L for nearly £800, however they've told me that this is just a market place seller using the Amazon name. I'm concerned Amazon is not filling my order because they've realised they can charge £300+ more for this item.

Anyway...would be interested to know if anyone who ordered at MSRP from Amazon has actually received this processor yet.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the replies guys. Initially the processor was meant to be delivered within two weeks, and when it didn't arrive and they gave me another date, one to two months after my order date. I complained and got a £5 voucher (great, thanks.).

When the processor didn't arrive after two months I complained again and I was told that they couldn't give me a dispatch date. My presumption was that I must be in a queue for stock, so switching my order elsewhere would be inadvisable. I've now seen the processor advertised as in stock with several Market Place sellers, as well as with Amazon EU S.a.r.L - though Amazon's head office have now informed me that this is a seller that they are not naming, but it is not Amazon.

I guess what I'm trying to fathom is whether Amazon are genuinely struggling to fill back-orders as far back as 7/7 (release day), or whether they have been fulfilling orders at higher prices because they realise they can. I ordered at 10pm UK time on release day, and I understand from other forum posts that orders started around 3pm on 7/7...so I guess it's feasible that they got a lot of orders that day. If someone has ordered from Amazon (UK) after 7/7 and received their processor I guess this would prove that they're not dispatching based on when the order comes in...and could be evidence of price gouging.

I really hope it's that they've had a large number of orders, and not that they're being unscrupulous....I've generally had good experiences with Amazon...but I'm almost certainly not going to use them for any high-demand item in future.

Yeah, I agree, it could be a genuine stock shortage...I feel like three months is a long time to wait, but I can't prove Amazon UK are behaving badly here (unless someone can confirm they've ordered from Amazon UK after 7/7 and it's been dispatched).

I've been given zero transparency on how many orders they have, where I am in the queue, or even what their order allocation policy is. I'll spare you my email correspondence with UK head office, but I can assure you I've asked these questions repeatedly and received no satisfactory answers.

I've spoken with Overclockers.co.uk and Scan.co.uk, and their customer service people have been much more helpful. Their order back-logs are in the range 100-300 and they are receiving 30-50 processors most weeks from AMD.

In future, when it comes to a newly released product where high demand I'm planning on using a specialist retailer like Scan.co.uk or Overclockers.co.uk. The shortage of 3900x processors has been widely reported in the tech press, so I'm sure I'm not alone here, but it's been a very frustrating experience.

Finally received my processor from Amazon!

I'm not going to lie...the week before it shipped I engaged heavily with customer services, primarily because I was frustrated to see a seller by the name of "Amazon" dispatching the 3900x for next day delivery at an inflated price. There is, of course, now way of being able to assess whether my interaction with customer services had any influence over when my 3900x was dispatched, but after contacting them over a dozen times a representative agreed to escalate my enquiry to the buying team...and my gut is that this is what finally resolved the situation.

The processor itself is amazing - but I still feel slightly p1ssed off at having to wait three months for delivery. The best advice I can give anyone thinking of ordering a component on launch is to use a specialist. I know that's what I'll be doing when the new Nvidia Ampere XX80ti SKU is released.
