Hello,
I've been looking for a while now for parts for my new computer. I will be using it for aerial (UAV) imagery processing (Photoscan, Pix4D), point cloud processing and 3D modeling (Meshlab, Geomagic, SketchUp,...), Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere), AutoCAD and similar software.
I was almost certain to go with new Skylake i7-6700K processor build, but then friend showed me 6 core i7-5820K processor in the same price range that should be more suitable for my needs, so now my build looks like this:
http://de.pcpartpicker.com/user/blazvidmar/saved/chZmP6
CPU Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor €376.00 @ Mindfactory
CPU Cooler Thermalright Macho Rev.B 73.6 CFM CPU Cooler €41.06
Motherboard MSI X99A SLI PLUS ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard €221.34 @ Mindfactory
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory €139.84 @ Mindfactory
Storage Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Purchased For €178.00
Storage Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive €79.84
Storage Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive €79.84
Video Card MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card €361.32 @ Mindfactory
Case Cooler Master N300 ATX Mid Tower Case Purchased For €46.00
Power Supply Cooler Master 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply €353.27
Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts
Total €1876.51
Now I have few questions:
- Did I made a good decision to switch from 6700K to 5820K?
- Is my RAM choice (G.Skill, CL15, 3000) good or can I save 30€ with Corsair, 14CL, 2400? Or any other suggestions regarding RAM
- Is my power supply and CPU cooler sufficient if I plan to overclock procesor to around 4GHz?
PS:
- I will have 2 HDDs in RAID1.
- I plan to upgrade RAM (to 32 or even 64GB), SSD (500GB, M.2) and HDDs in future.
General opinion on this build also welcome
