A friend just bought a Gainward Ti4200 (after previously owning a lousy Radeon 9200 SE). He did the upgrade following my advice (he wasn't willing to spend some extra bucks, so the best choice was a Ti4200)
The game performance is ok, but I'm a bit worried about the 3dMark scores (yeah, I know, they're not very relevant, but anyway..)
The score in 3dMark 2001 SE is around 7100 (lower than my ex 9000 Pro), and in 3dMark 2003 b.340 is about 1200-1300 (don't remember exactly)
Before the tests, he reinstalled the OS, so the Catalyst "legacies" are not in question. I am not 100% sure that he installed also the AGP drivers (told him to do so, but not sure if he did).
I've looked on the net for similar results, but the results I found were varying greatly. I believe that the 3dMark 2001 score should be something like 9000.
The system is a 2.0 GHz Celeron, with 512 DDR. The system is for sure CPU bound, but still, i think the score is too low even in this case.
If someone has a quite similar system, or it knows how it should perform, I would be gratefull for some thoughts...
P.S. I should try the video card in another system, with better CPU, but he is among the very few guys in my gang having NVidia cards... the rest of us have Radeons... and I don't exactly feel like reinstalling windows just to clear the mess NV drivers leave behind.
