Go into CCC - under Graphics go to 3d - go to the all tab and change all of the sliders to the performance options (usually far left !) instead of quality (this is done to get the best result under the benchmark since you are trying to get the best performance. -- After benching go in and change the settings back to your actual preferences.
Just open your Catalyst Center and adjust your AA and AF to performance, normally the default is set to "quality". Then adjust your "force v-sync to "performance" and you are set.
Well, in the process of trying to OC my CF cards, I found my original 4870 is having some severe issues, and has been sent in for RMA, as stock clocks aren't even stable anymore. Also in this process, I found that the 4870 I got a few months back is a real stunner, hah. Personal record for a single 4870:
I ran it a few times with both 4870s at stock clocks, but didn't bother with any SS since I was moving towards OCing the cards, a venture that has been postponed for now, hah. The best I got with CF @ stock speeds was about 23k with my CPU at 4.060ghz.
I'll probably give the replacment 4870 a try at an OC'd run or two before i hock it, hah.
I was really hoping for 30K with Crossfire HD5850's @ 950/1200 and a Core i7 920 @ 4.4Ghz but sadly it didn't happed... Adding a second card only gave me 2K more points... CPU bottlenecked much?
Maybe I'll get the guts one day to put more than 1.44V through my CPU.
my record in 06 with a single GTX 260 overvolted/overclocked is around 18k @ 3.8Ghz and around 19.2k @ 4Ghz but since my room temp is pretty high I can no longer bench @ 4Ghz =(
here is an old shot @ 3.8Ghz mild GPU overclock (stock voltage)

Yay. got a brand new 4870 512mb back from sapphire a few days ago, and my CF is now running how I originally expected it to. Only had time for a few benches today, but got some decent numbers:
CPU @ 3.85ghz
NB @ 2500
4870s @ stock 750/900
3dmark06: 22,062
3Dmark vantage: 16102
Gonna tweak it in what little spare time I have this weekend and see what I can force out of her with the CPU at 4.0 and the cards OC'd.
