Hello all,

So I was cleaning up my system, and adding new hardware...

Got a new LSI 9270-8i for my 8 1tb disks... In the process I was backing up my old raid 10 (4x1tb) array to a few seagate 4tb hdd's. After switching things around, i was running short on sata power cables so I ended using some molex to sata and some other various splitters/extensions.

The PSU is an AX1200i

Now, all of a sudden, all 4 of my seagate 4tb drives wont power on... no spin-up, no head tracking, no nothing... I tried plugging them individually into a plugable dock, and into another computer with some spare onboard sata ports. Nothing.

All 8 of the 1tb disk still work fine...

How could they have all died so suddenly?? At the time, they were in a silverstone 3.5" to 5.25" bay converter with rubber mounts and such. I did not drop anything or shock anything...

What do you thing went wrong?

Solution
From what you were doing, I'd guess the adapters caused some issues with the power plugs or the system boards. I'd send in the ones in warranty to get fixed/replaced.
Bump...

So 2 of my drives are out or warranty, but the other two are warrantied until january 2016...

Should i just send the two in, or perhaps spend the ~$50 on new controller boards??
