Way 2 go dude....we is in the same boat.......... :bounce: And not only that, Im trying to talk her into letting us have a young nanny also 😍 ....but she is not liking that idea 2 well :fou: she is claiming that I want a nanny for one reason.... 😀

To look after kid(s) while you play on your computer???
(Why else would you want one...)
I assume you need a young one so they can keep up with the kid(s) - older ones slow down a bit with age!!! 😀

Wow.....Mad lucheee

with so much money to spend on (basically) gaming ....why not spend 800-1200 bucks on a system that can run anything out there for (nearly) the next year.....and spend the rest on 'something' like this!!!!!???( actually old..but nonetheless)

talk about bragging rights:)

It should come with an uninstall program to uninstall all the people from your house:)

well...my 2centavos anyway

This is a most funny thread.

Look at the games he said he will be playing. A $250 video card will play those games in high detail at max res on the monitors he wants. LOL. And hes talking about $1400 Ultra SLI nonsense?

I could put together a computer with monitor for under $1400 to smoke what he thought was good at 4k. With a stupid P35 $89 dollar motherboard, and a E6600 overclocked to almost 4 GHZ with $98 dollar ram.

This kid should literally, PAY some nice guy on here who knows what the hell he is doing, and that already has a killer computer to build it for him, and just accept what he gets, because he doesn't know enough to even have a clue what he is being told.

Shoot for 2k, thats in the range like 27" Widescreen LCD included, with crossfire, and at 3.6+ GHZ! LOL

Mouse - Lots of good options, I currently use either a logitech G5 or a razer

Glowing blue will fit in nicely with your case i think, its a nz link but im sure its easy to find on US sites however.

Keyboard - Dont waste too much money here, I use a plain generic black one but the one below looks cool and will fit in with your black and glowing blue case :)

http://www.gpstore.co.nz/Hardware/1551902.html

Mouse Pad - Not needed, if really wanted there are plenty of high end alloy or glass 'mats' around
Monitor - samsung 226BW or really any other similar speced monitor.
Internet/Virus Protection - NOD32

I thought the SLI didn't improve crysis much? or is that now not the case?

I can't believe this thread is still going. At this point, it seems the OP will never buy this machine because he's been waiting since September. At this point, either buy the system or shut up.

Actually I will have my pc by Chirstmas, so i get a couple more weeks to decide.

Go with NOD32, it uses much less system resources than most of its competitors and has a very small install footprint. Sure you have plenty of horsepower to run anything but hey every little bit helps.

Now thats an awesome idea... But this is implying that he has friends to come play with him...

BURN!!!! Wow, I can feel the heat from that one all the way over here in Missouri.

I'll have my friend next to me watching me play

Honestly man, why dump 4k into a computer alone?...It's ridiculous, I shouldn't be one to talk though, I'm dumping a little less than 5 grand around Feb/March next year into a rig, but it's not all on the computer...What am I buying for a little under 5 grand including tax/shipping?

Q9450 (yorkfield)
two 2x2gb or 2x1gb kits (undecided)
logitech G11 keyboard
logitech G9 mouse
motherboard (currently x38 in mind, but will likely drop to p35 depending on nvidia 9800 bandwidth in concerns with PCI-E 1.1/2.0 lane)
Nvidia XFX 9800 series (near release)
2x 150gb raptors
2x 1tb seagates
2x 500gb seagates (raid 0)
Coolermaster Stacker 830 evo
8 slipstream or s-flex fans (undecided)
T Ultra 120 Extreme
two DVD-RW drives
Enermax Galaxy 1kw (overkill, but for future use)
Vista Home Premium
Sony FW900 24" CRT (700 bucks refurbished with 1 year warranty, ouch)
Audiotechnics ATH-A900 headset (180 bucks)
Auzentech X-FI Prelude
Wacom 6x11 tablet (around 330)

Now you guys might say too much, but this is a high end gaming and high end workstation build for a socket 775 platform (Photoshop, 3d modeling, video editing, video special effects). Yes I do use that much hard drive space, I've used 1.2 TB of my 1.4 ATM. The raid 0 array is for video editing source files, while the 1tb drives are for uncompressed huffyuv finalized projects. The two raptors is for a dual boot of xp and vista (with a partition of ubuntu), while the paging file will be on the opposite raptor not in use (need to get some vista experience and dx10 support). Going to OC indeed, as far as I can take it.

Heck Neo, If I took away ALL the goodies to match a more high end budget friendly tower. Dropping the $700 monitor, $180 headset, $350 tablet, $220 2x 500 gig drives, $580 2x 1tb seagates, $180 for one raptor, $150 to downgrade the galaxy psu to a corsair hx 620, and a $130 downgrade to P5k/p35-ds3r mobo..

What would I end up with...A still kick ass pc that would offer the same performance for under 2300 (I could even take it less with stripping parts for more budget friendly alternative) with shipping and tax included.

What you're doing is insane. Why pay for a 1000 dollar CPU when you can take a q6600 on stock voltage and oc it to 3ghz (even farther)? that's 280 bucks well spent. 8800 Ultra's?..are you nuts?...two 8800 GTS g92's would be a better investment. You also end up saving around 800 dollars. SLI for a 22 inch? Are you mentally ill? A 22 inch monitor is a waste for SLI, considering you're putting together a rig this expensive with a plan for such a cheaper monitor is insulting. You'd only want SLI for a 24+, most needed scenario a 30 inch with a 2560x1600 resolution. It's meant for high resolution gaming, I'd never recommend SLI unless the user was planning to play at 1920x1200 or higher with lots of eyecandy/AF/AA.

I'll tell you what's gonna happen with your rig. You're gonna enjoy your enthusiast pc for exactly a year, within a few months from your purchase, all will change. The 9800 will be out, and it will dwarf your 8800 Ultra's to the point no one would even want to buy them off you for more then 350, a 8800 GTS g92 can come close to matching it for 300-350. 1400 dollars wasted on your behalf when you could of got almost the same performance for 600 (two 8800 GTS g92's). That 1,000 dollar cpu? Dead at the end of 2008 in terms of worth. Nehalem will rape your system to nothingness. You won't even be able to upgrade to it since you'd need a new motherboard (new socket, IMC, QuickPath interconnect). Meanwhile you could of nabbed a q6600, OC'ed it easily to 3 ghz or even higher if you wished. Meanwhile saving 700 bucks, you could save it up for Nehalem's midrange quad to OC, and a new socket mobo, bam...you have just demolished your own rig. My upcoming rig might not have two 8800 ultras, but at least I have the common sense to understand what I'm investing in. With my XFX 9800 series, I'll be able to sell it easily for one to two bills below MSRP thanks to it's transferable life time warranty, then I can just nab another new high end every 12-18 months for a 200-300 dollar investment. 300-500 dollars will also keep my cpu/motherboard up to date at all times. Spending that 4 grand on a rig at THIS time WITH the choices you made is ridiculous and uninformed...

Check back with me in a year...At the time I purchase my rig in Feb/March, my rig would offer the same performance , probably better CPU wise since I will OC to the limit, and if you don't OC with that processor you selected it's a complete waste. If I wanted SLI...I could nearly match your performance in terms of gpu power with two 8800 GTS g92's, for the same price I'm planning to nab one highend 9800 instead though. All a little less then 2,300 if I gutted my rig. At the end of 2008/early 2009? that 2300 dollar rig will trump yours, with a Nehalem quad, also I have the ability to upgrade with my XFX card permanently, at all times, since I'm thinking ahead.

Use some common sense man. Why ask for help when you completely disregard EVERYONES advice. You also end up thanking everyone? For what reason? You're ignoring everyone and just throwing money at your rig like it's nothing. It took me a long time to save up my money, saved up my 6 grand with hard work and pride, 5 grand in the rig, 1 grand in savings which I will constantly add to as I use funds to always keep my computer up to date. I'm in it for the long haul, you're just in it for within a years time frame...Cause frankly, you are wasting so much money on something that you could get nearly the same exact performance for 1,000-2,000 dollars less.

But do whatever you want, you seem to be following that path quite unwaveringly. I don't even know why I'm bothering typing this, you're just gonna say "I need it", or some other non sense. Heck, I believe this thread is just a joke. but I have a gut feeling it isn't, which unfortunately, means you need some serious guidance. Your rig, is basically an alienware, overpriced, and not worth the money in the current technological state of market, to me, that's a insult when you ask for advice, and ignore it.

Indeed, having photoshop, premiere, and after effects open at the same time takes a lot of system resources. I constantly have to mask, apply visual effects, and many other tasks simultaneous. Can't wait till I get that quad to make everything easier....ATM I'm planning for two sets of 2x2 kits. xp 64 bit and vista 64 bit (I'll be working in XP, vista is just for experience, DX10, and pertyness). I just have to make sure I pick up the best overclockable 2x2 modules. 2x2 is still fairly young in terms of IC's...So it's kinda hard to nab some with great overclockability in a 4 stick system. Thankfully I'm waiting till February/March..So I have time to read up on every single one available more thoroughly.

Its amazing how fast the retail value degrades on these parts. Thats why I just never buy the most expensive ones. I would however consider all my hardware purchases to be in the high-midrange bracket, which is overall the best place to sit IMO..

Consider this:

I originally bought this system a year ago and indeed, payed more for the x2 3800+ than the 6000+ during almost the exact-same price cut periods.
Neither chip cost me more than $160.

Similarly, - a year ago, such a 750GB hard drive might run me closer to three-to-four times as much.. - I opted (at the time) for a $200 600GB (2 x 320) raid0 config w/ a $100 dedicated controller that's saved me from any reinstalls even when I recently switched out the motherboard & CPU.

My x1900AIW was a kill-deal @ $220 in mid-06 and still does wonderful in Crysis (26FPS avg @ medium/ high tex & sound) @ my Acer 1916WS' native res (which by the way - I was able to afford two of for less than $350 - greatly improving productivity @ our music studio).

Overall, I've never dropped more than $500 at a time on my systems. But you know what? - That doesn't mean they aren't competitive, - the price-performance ratio of my systems is often unparalleled (except for the many other wise shoppers I know are all around me here).

I have nothing against the people spending (IMO) far too much for a mac'ing price-performance rate..
I just hate to see people upset. - And it'd sure make me upset to realize I spent twice as much as I should've just a year (or less) down the line.

In all other aspects though, power to your system!! - If its for a true business-enhancing reason (probably not a pro-gamer eh?) or you're dying of a terminal illness or sum'n I completely understand the need to have what you really want, right now.. :wahoo:

Ziplocc: Were you speaking towards me?..or?..the op?..lol..could go both ways =P.

Personally, I have a need for the amount I'm putting into my rig. But I'm actually not spending that much in a certain regard. My processor will be 315 dollars (a yorkfield q9450), motherboard will be a p35 or x38 depending on the 9800's ability to break the 2.5 GBit rating of PCI-e 1.1. If it does break it, I'll nab a x38 board, if not, a budget 130 dollar board will do. The graphics card is indeed going to be 600...But I'm not worried about that too much. With XFX's double lifetime warranty, I can sell the card at any time, and plan to do so, the second hand buyer also gets the lifetime warranty. I'm planning this, buy a XFX high end, a month or two before the next high end is released, I sell my current card with a 100-200 markdown on the MSRP. Sell the card on ebay, take the money I got for it (around a 300-450 dollar range), place an extra 150-300 on top of it, and grab the next high end. This way I'm always up with the times in terms of graphics, I just have to spend anywhere between 150-300 every 12-18 months.

In terms of processor. I find it ridiculous to spend so much. I always nab a decently high mid range...and just overclock to pull out the extra performance. Considering how you can currently take a 280 dollar q6600 and overclock it beyond the speeds of their 1,000 dollar range cpu's with ease is fantastic, it's ridiculous to even consider a high end cpu based on nehalem within a year, and the price difference.

I'm spending more on my monitor, tablet, headset, and amount of hard drive space/performance (2 raptors, 2 1tb seagtes, 2 500gb seagates in raid 0) than anything else...I'm spending almost 2 grand just on those alone. Let alone, if I wanted I could downgrade my case, my fans, my psu, and many other factors and save another grand if I wanted to gut more.

My hard drive space can always be used for future rigs. My current 1.4 (1.2 used) tb of used space on this rig are going to go into a Esata enclosures, so I still have access to the files on my new rig (through a PCI-E sata controller if my board doesn't have enough SATA ports.

I agree with you that if a rig is going to last you a while you should put as much money into it as you want. But asking for advice and just ignoring it is unacceptable. There has been so much valuable information that he's received, but he just ignores it. With the current state of technology, such as the new mid range offering JUST BARELY high end performance, with the 9800 a few months off, and nehalem due at years end (with a massive performance increase may I add), it just makes it ludicrous to buy the parts he is buying. two 8800 Ultra's?...you can save almost 800 dollars by just nabbing two G92 GT/GTS's..It will offer nearly the same performance for 800 dollars less, You might get 2-30 frames less depending on the titles, but does 20 frames really mean everything in a game where you're already getting 180 fps?...I'd bet the difference in crysis is just a measly FPS, around 2-4. Also to spend so much on ultras when the 9800 is close is insane. Investing so much into a rig that will lose upgradability at years end is also a concern...

It's his money....He can do with it what he wishes. I just dislike the fact that he was asking for advice and disregarded it since he was fixed on a system he had in mind, I don't mind having discussions with individuals who have opinions. But when someone is completely opinionated...and asking for advice..is a completely different story.
