Is the 4790k still worth getting? I found a pretty good deal on it, and i'm planning to pair it with a nh-d15 cooler and an asus z97 deluxe motherboard.
However I see way too many people upgrading to six core processors and I'm scared to find myself upgrading again in a few months.
Thanks.

Solution
Way too many people are most likely upgrading to an AMD 6 core, not Intel. The price on Intel 6 cores are insane and absolutely not needed for gaming. If you want to see how Toms Hardware grades CPUs for gaming, they have a stickie on the front page of the site and its there every day, showing their tiers of gaming CPUs.

It depends what you are using it for. For gaming, i5 4690k is the better option unless you plan on doing a high end crossfire or sli (980s/290xs). For content creation and rendering, the i7 5820k would be a bigger option with increase core count and cache without having the huge price tag that the 5930k and 5960x have.

I accidently clicked choose as best answer on mail..
Is the 4790k still worth buying? For how long will it ve viable for gaming/video editing?
2011 processors are indeed too expensive.
