Hello.

I play games like NWN2 and Team Fortress. Running a DDR1 system with an Athlonx2 with 2 gigs of ram. Would a 4850 card be any improvement over a GTS 320?
Would it allow me to max NWN2? Or will my DDR1 system bottleneck it for online games.

What resolution do you play at? If its anything below 1600x1200 (which is probably is) I don't think its worth it. You would probably be better off getting an 8800GT/GTS (512MB card obviously) or the 3870.

well considering the price difference, i highly doubt it's worth it to buy an 8800GT or 3870 over a 4850.

You would be much better off with the 4850 which can be had for ~$140 and I'm sure your going to want an upgrade to that system in the near future so the 4850 would be a good card to upgrade around.

RAM doesn't make that much difference (DDR1 v DDR2 v DDR3), so don't worry about that.

Put it this way - the 4850 is faster than the 9800GTX, so what you are really asking is:

GTS 320 < GTS 640 < GT 512 < GTS 512 < 8800 GTX < 9800 GTX < 4850

...considering the 4850 can be had for around $160 with rebates, I say go for it.

!

My native resolution for my screen is 1680x1050. But I would like to crank the AA and AF as high as I can (TN panel). I have 3 systems, but one is down right now. And I dont want to monkey with my main one lol. Removing the Internet Service firewall really mucked up this system (ran a repair and it is ok now). So, if a 4850 would give me the most out of it, I am looking to upgrade it in a few weeks.

The 4850 might be $140-$160, but its overkill if you are on 1024x768, or 1280x1024. The 8800GT for a mere $125 will do this fine.

Seeing as you do have a 22" LCD, you need all the power you can get. 4850 all the way. Yes, he has a PCIe slot, I don't think the 320MB GTS was ever on AGP.

I'm running 1 8800GT on a 24" @ 1920x1200 and the only thing I can't max out is Crysis but I still think the extra $15 or so for the 4850 is well worth it.

hey... come to think of it.. the 3870 is way better tho... coz of its higher core clock and it is gddr4... which is faster and power efficient... compared to the gddr3 of the 4850

It is not worth for you upgrade your card from 8800GTS 320MB to 8800GT or HD3870 as the different is not significant.

Perhaps your AMD CPU is the bottleneck on the overall performance and if you are not using it with resolution 1680X1050 or above with AA enabled, however HD4850 is just around the price of HD3870 and 8800GT; it is worthy to buy a HD4850 to improve the 3D Games performance as you are also buying the new Technology for future games.
