So I recently purchased the ASUS PB827Q, but as my computer is currently broken I can't experience the true greatness of 4K so I'm going to purchase a 4K DVD player and cd got my eye on this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0106BH0UA/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1466183489&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=Sony+BDP6500+4k+Blu-ray+Player&dpPl=1&dpID=21rVh9vYPUL&ref=plSrch but the problem is, that is a hdmi cable out, and I'm pretty sure the hdmi slots in my monitor are only 1080p? Unless I'm wrong? So I was thinking about buying an adapter for the DVD player and was wondering if that would help or would I be wasting my time?

Solution
Why would you think that your HDMI port on your monitor is only 1080p?
Says HDMI @ 30hz which means you have HDMI 1.4 spec so it will do 4k, just not at 60hz.

Frankly it is pointless anyway. Would rather watch a blray at original resolution then a cheap box trying to upscale it and pull pixels out of its butt that does not exist.

Also on top of that you may not actually be able to use a 4k bluray player on your monitor. This is due to the new HDCP 2.2 port that was introduced to prevent piracy. Basically you need to connect your UHD devices to a compatible UHD TV via HDCP otherwise it won't work.

You might want to double check that before hand but I'm pretty sure thats the case.
