Question from ultimateprofifafan : "4pin connector to 8 pin mobo power"

Hello so basically i bought a new psu mpx-7001-acabw and the problem is that it has 20+4 pin connector for power whereas my mobo has 8 pin power connector i was wandering if i can connect the 4 pin only to the 8 pin power on my mobo will it work? and is using a 24pin to 8 pin adapter safe? if needed i don't plan on overclocking for now.HERE are my pc specs
I7 4790 3.60GHZ
8GB RAM
Dell optiplex 9020
Gtx 1060 6gb msi
I haven't used the gpu yet just got it with the psu
All replies will be appreciated ask me anything if needed

The 20+4 pin connector is on one cable and both the 20 pin and 4 pin part has to attach to the motherboard 24 pin connector.

There should be a separate 4+4 pin cable in the power supply kit that connects to the CPU 8 pin connector on the motherboard.

the problem you have is the 9020 doesn't use ATSX PSU directly (ioe 24/4pinout)
the motherboard uses 8pin 12v and standard atx 4 pin

so you will need a connector conversion from your 24pin to 8pin and then use the atx 4 pin on the 4 pin of the motherboard
I recently has to perform this on my 7020 and it works just fine.

So the motherboard looks like this in your 9020

And your 24 pin connector needs this converter before you can power the 8pin of the motherboard

I bought mine off Ebay from :

yeah that is my mobo so it won't just work with the 4pin only?
