4pin connector to 8 pin mobo power

Hello so i need help basically i got a new psu for my gtx 1060 6gb
The problem is that my mobo is 8 pin for power whereas the psu has 20+4 pin i was wandering if i attach only the 4 pin into the mobo power will it work?
Here are my specs:
I7-4790 3.60Ghz
8GB RAM
Gtx 1060 msi 6gb
PSU-mpx-7001-acabw
My psu is 700watts
Please help me all replies will be appreciated

The 20+4 pin connector is on one cable and both the 20 pin and 4 pin part has to attach to the motherboard 24 pin connector.

There should be a separate 4+4 pin cable in the power supply kit that connects to the CPU 8 pin connector on the motherboard.

Yeah there is one more cable that is a 4+4 but one of the 4 pin will go into the cpu

the problem you have is the 9020 doesn't use ATSX PSU directly (ioe 24/4pinout)
the motherboard uses 8pin 12v and standard atx 4 pin

so you will need a connector conversion from your 24pin to 8pin and then use the atx 4 pin on the 4 pin of the motherboard
I recently has to perform this on my 7020 and it works just fine.

So the motherboard looks like this in your 9020

And your 24 pin connector needs this converter before you can power the 8pin of the motherboard

I bought mine off Ebay from :

there is another cable that will attach to the GPU.

no Sir, it need the 12v from the 8pin (NOT the same as the GPU cable one on the ATX PSu) to run.
you will need to get the 24 to 8 pin converter to use that psu sorry that what happens with Dell motherboard.

No that cable isn't the gpu one it is from the power cable

It is a 20+4 not 24+4 and thanks for your help just was curious if it would work

look I gave you the information you need to get that PSu to power your dell motherboard, get the converter from 24 pin to 8pin and that is all there is to it .
