Hello,

9800X3D question for the experts haha.

Enabled PBO
PBO Limit - Motherboard
Scaler - 10x
Positive - 200mhz
Curve Optimiser - Negative 20 All Core

Is this dangerous ?

I recently had a 9800X3D die on same settings showing the dreadful "00" motherboard code, wondering if the PBO stuff did this or if I just got extremely unlucky with my original chip.

Thanks!

Hey there,

No, not dangerous. That's kinda an outside standard of what you might be able to achieve. Something that most typically aim for.

Although my CPU/Mobo are previous gen, it's essentially the exact same setup as my own moderate OC.

If you find some crashing, reduce the CO to -10 and then test again. Of course you should be testing each OC you do as you go, to ensure you learn what works and doesn't work.

With that said, given the x3d parts are more sensitive to OC'ing then maybe start at 50mhz increase, test, then 100 etc etc until it becomes unstable. and then dial it back one notch from there.

You can also look into a vcore offset and see if that gets temps lower. But, the downside to that is that, along with the CO undervolt, adding the negative offset can make the CPU unstable too. It's a bit of a balancing act.
