5.25" floppy drive, will it work on optiplex 745?

I got a dell optiplex 745 that has a floppy controller on the mb. The bios shows I can enable the onboard floppy or usb floppy. I would like to install a 5.25" floppy drive so I can retrieve data off my old floppies. How do I know if the floppy controller will support a 5.25" drive?

You won't know until you try it, but it's unlikely that the BIOS on your Dell will support such an old type of floppy drive that's been obsolete for at least two decades. I can only suggest you hook up the drive & see if it works.
