This will be my first time building a custom gaming desktop with a budget of $500-$600. I've been doing a bit of research to ensure that I order parts that are compatible and come with quality performance for the price. Even after reading/watching reviews, I'm not entirely sure how well my gaming rig will be able to run the latest CPU intensive games like "The Witcher 3" at average graphical settings. Anyone with experience here know if there's room to better optimize aspects of my custom gaming desktop?

Get this build instead. The GPU is much better, the PSu is better, the HDD is better, and although the FX-8350 may beat the i3-6100 in a task that uses all eight of its cores, most games can't use eight cores, and usually use two or four. And in those games, the i3 wins.

I apologize for the lack of experience I have on how I should post content on this site.

Is he to build his own case out of wood ?

change the ram HDD and cpu cooler , so you can fit in a gtx 1060 or RX 480

the cpu will come with a cpu cooler

I forgot to say that I left the case out so he can add whatever he wants.

this ram is 16 bucks cheeper http://pcpartpicker.com/product/kkL7YJ/kingston-memory-hx421c14fbk28

I would look into the 6 gig gtx 1060 vs 3 gig gtx 1060

I did use your build (as well as stl522013's) as reference, but there are a couple of things I should've mentioned before to clarify my needs:
- I primarily look in Amazon.com for the price and reputation of each desktop component (which is why our builds differ)
- When it comes to DDR4, I personally prefer to utilize DDR4-2666MHz to go along with the GTX 1060 and i3-6100
- The price gap between the GTX 1060 3GB and the GTX 1060 6GB is too significant for me to make the change
