I'm sure this is a nOOb question, but then...I am a nOOb...

I have a WD 80gb 7200 rpm 8mb cache hard drive that I want to use as a master to a slave Maxtor 5400 rpm 6gb drive. Will this cause any slowdown or performance issues to the WD drive in normal daily use? I know it will be slower if I copy from one to the other, but what about normal everyday use?

Usually it shouldnt, as i did something similar for a while, but it may slow down drive to drive transfers a little. But as one drive is slow anyway, you probably wont notice it.

If you do notice any slowdowns then by all means put it seperately on a different cable.
