550W PSU enough for EVGA 1070 FTW?

I have a PSU that’s refurbished from Newegg. I just bought a 1070 FTW. The PSU has a 6+2 pin connector and a 6 pin connector for GPU power. I don’t have the money to upgrade the PSU currently. Is there a way that I can temporarily MacGyver the card into working properly or am I screwed?

550 W should be enough, although 600W is recommended. As long as that PSU is performing, you are fine.

He needs 2x 8 pin connections, the PSU doesn't have it.

Also sounds like a low quality older unit also, and a reburb.

Nothing good would come out of that, has red flags all over it.

Wait and get a better PSU, a high quality one.

You don't want to fry the card and or your whole system.

What if I were to get an adapter that goes from the molex(?) power cables to 8-pin? Would that work?

NO, don't even try it.

There is no way around it other than to get a new PSU, and a good one.

The 750ti is NOTHING compared to a GTX 1070.

Those 2x 8 Pins are there for a reason, it pulls a lot of power on the 12V+ rail....
