[SOLVED] 5600x vs 3600(x) for higher resolution gaming

Is the 5600x worth getting over the 3600 when i plan on playing at 1440p or 4k with a 3080? I plan on getting the rest of the parts for my build in the next week or two and can't decide whether the 5600x is worth the 100+ dollars more over the 3600 or 3600x at those resolutions. I don't play at 1080p, and I know the 5600x is much better than the 3600x is at that resolution, but is it worth getting for higher, more GPU intensive resolutions? Should i just get the 3600 now so I can have a working system, and get a 5600x later when they become more widely available, selling the 3600 afterwards?

At 1440p and up your GPU is going to limit performance, especially when using high-ultra settings. There will be no appreciable difference between a 3600/X or a 5600X as several reviews have revealed.

There are some noteable areas that benefit such as high-refresh rate, low(er) resolution e-sports games where extreme high FPS is sought after. And some games that previously performed best only on Intel, noteably GTA-V and some FarCry games.

Upgrading from 3600X to 5600X will also not be worth the expense or bother if just for gaming.

Thanks for the response. Seems like the 3600(x) is probably my best bet, since I don't play e-sports games and even if I did the 3600 isn't that much different at those resolutions. if i can find a 5600x in stock in the next week I'll get that, but if not I'll go for the 3600 as it will suite my needs.

If you have access to a Microcenter it seems all their stores have had 5600X's in stock for the last two weeks. It's only for walk-in sales though.
