Hello,

I just wanted to ask is it normal the 5950X to stutter while gaming if all cores are enabled? When I disable Core 0 - 1 - 2 - 3 -4 and leave the others on the game works just fine without any single stutter, does it mean the CPU is defective? Bad Cores? Should I RMA? What do you guys think please let me know!

What cooler are you using with your CPU?

Are your AMD chipset drivers fully up to date?

What are the specs for the rest of your system (make/model of ALL components)?

Are you overclocking anything (CPU, GPU, memory)?
Temps are fine!
Chipset fully up to date
b550 Asus rog strix f gaming
360 AIO LS720
PSU 750W GOLD
GPU 6800 AMD
Ram 3600MHZ Corsshair Vegance SL - CL 18 -
I tried with Ram HyperX 3200 CL 16

Nothing, only issues and issues no matter what I did

Every driver is fully up to date, did a clean format so many times and couldn't find the issue until now

I'm not overclocking and no matter what I've did overclock and not overclock still the problem kept going until today I disabled the CORE 0 - 1 - 2 -3 -4 for the GTA V or COD whatever game I was playing left only the other cores on the problem is gone no more stutters no more fps drops, as soon as I enable all cores that's it starts FPS drops, lagging, stuttering or whatever u call it.

So my question is could it be bad cores, especially CORE 0 if that's so, Should I do an RMA?

Details matter, just for your awareness, in assessing a system for troubleshooting. Just for your future awareness as that detail is lacking from what you provided.

Is your motherboard BIOS fully up to date?

Also, how are you disabling cores?

Yes my BIOS is fully up to date 3405,

I am disabling Cores in the task manager for the game that i am playing so I go to Task Manager - Details - Set Affinity - Click the specific game thats running, and disable Core 0 - 1 -2 - 3 -4

I am thinking just the Core 0 and 1 is a bad Core and prob need RMA?

A core failure is pretty unusual. Other than seeing issues with these games, have you tested the CPU in any other ways? Burn-in testing? Benchmarking?
Not just the games actually, sometimes my mouse freezes like for 3-5 seconds and then keep going especially when I am like editing in Adobe Premiere there was times also when it completely froze and nothing worked so I had to restart it,

I did a OCCT test came good,
I also did a Cinebench test score for multithreaded was around 27850 with PBO enabled
For single thread was 1597
I know my GPU also is fine because i've tested it in another computer and worked just fine
I runned Prime95 everything runned just fine not a problem
I also check the temps with HWMonitor and HWinfo when running things everything seemd fine I was suspecting the VRM's but No I don't think so
Did a memory test as well with Memtest couldn't find any problem that's why I got kinda confused but since trying this especially for games now every game running smooth af but if I enable all the cores then that's it! Is there any way how I can test just the Core 0 and the three first cores?

Also there's a screenshot of my RAM with ZenTiming if you don't mind to check if everything looks fine:

When you tested, were all cores enabled? Or did some of your tests include disabled cores?

It is possible that you have a defective CPU, albeit unusual. You should contact AMD about an RMA, just in case.

What is the actual make and model number of your PSU? What you are describing seems more like a heat and/or power issue. By disabling cores, you are reducing power required and heat generated, and why the information was requested at the beginning of the thread.

Temps seems fine - this is the PSU that I have

Idk if its legal to post links like this but ye this is the PSU, I had this PSU in another computer as well worked just fine and when I did the Watt Calc my Components take only around 500W in total so this should be all fine

I am sus about CPU tbh all the mouse freezings when using it in Adobe Premiere and other stuff very sus I don't disable cores when I do tests no also I don't disable cores when I use Premiere Pro,

I think i ll just do an RMA! Should I include this problem that the cores are faulty?

That is a low-quality PSU that may be contributing to your performance. See here:

Provide what detail necessary to request the RMA. AMD will ask.

Good luck!
Thank you for helping sorry if I wasted your time
