[SOLVED] 5G wifi is better than Ethernet !! please help

hello

im getting about 250 mbps when i do a speed test from speedtest.net from my android phone

and getting less than 70 mbps !!

be advised that i used both Cat6 and Cat7 cable with exact same results, im connecting from my pc directly to the modem

also bought netgear a6210 (usb wifi adapter usb 3.00) and surprisingly same 70 mbps !!!

i tried everything, i tried changing speed & dublex to 1 gigabit and even tried a usb 3.00 to lan adapter also same problem

tried also fresh re installing windows 10

my lan ethernet is already supporting up to 1 gigabit

i tried every solution and suggestion on the web with no hope so far

so im only getting the full 250 mbps speed from my android speed test !!
updated all my drivers and windows to the latest

modem: Huawei 5G H112-370


pinging with my gateway is 1ms

this is actually blows my mind in so many ways !!!

please help thanks...

Your problem is extremely strange because even 100mbps is nothing compared to the speed the computer transfers data to a hard drive or memory. Since it does this on mulitple operating systems it eliminates the more common software things but it being a hardware issue that affect multiple devices (ie your ethernet and wifi) does not make sense either.

It almost has to be some small detail being missed in the testing. Speedtest is not really a good method to test because there are so many variables involved. The best test it to transfer data between devices in your house but it appears you have limited options. Using a phone as one end of the connection will limit your abilities compared to having 2 pc. The phone has low cpu...

Let's confirm this by booting up a linux live cd/usb and checking speeds there wired and wireless (if possible on wireless). These should be correct speeds. If not, potential hardware issue at the motherboard level, but that would be rare and I'd like to try some other tests before that diagnosis.

This is bad news as it points to a hardware issue. 🙁

But I'm not convinced yet. Try this linux live cd/usb:

If it also gives you the same results with both wifi and ethernet, something on your motherboard or processor is not allowing full bandwidth, and we have to dig even deeper.

I will post my normal recommendations but it may not really be possible with a phone. First is to try a old program called IPERF. This is a extremely simple line mode program that send data between the machines. It is not affected by disk/memory/cpu since it is simple. Most times you get 900+mpbs in both directions. Next try to copy large files in both directions. Watch the transfer rates in the network tab of the resource monitor. You can also try to copy a directory of very small files but this is expected to be slower because of the overhead. It just depends how much slower and could point to issues with the disk.

Processor controls the pci lanes so if something is wrong there, it could cause this issue.

You do need to try again if you want an accurate diagnosis and a solution. I'm literally telling you to do what I would try if I was right there.

unfortunately i cant test ur IPERF method because there's only 1 pc
but did u just say issues with the disk ? how is that can be possible

It is only one of many possibilities and you start to consider uncommon things when you have eliminated almost all the common ones. If you get errors on the disk it can affect your performance. It is one of those things you test and rule out. Then again you sorta have done that by running a unix boot image. Those most times do not touch the hard drive.

There has to be something that is being missed. I mean it could be a bad motherboard but do you actually want to spend the money and then it not be.
