64 bit with 4+1

As long as it has a 64-bit processor, yes. Whether there are Windows 7 drivers for your particular laptop is something that you will have to research.

Do you mean how will it perform? Not much different to a 32-bit install. It'll likely use a bit more memory with 32-bit apps, but if you have 64-bit versions it should use less.

As long as the hardware is happy with how things are setup Windows 7 won't care how the memory is configured.
Have you checked your manual to see if that 4+1 combo is allowed?

If you unit has two RAM slots and then manual or web-site says it can handle up to 8GB then it can run the 5GB.

the reason i am sticking to the figure of 4+1 is since that is the least figure i should have to run a 64 bit OS, least cost wise too.

are both sticks the same as in specs or better even the exact same maker and specs.?
