660Ti Cometh! Hail thy Mainstream GFX Lord.

Solution

There are plenty of reviews showing the GTX 660 Ti to be quite a robust performer. HardOCP has the Galaxy GC 3GB card as pretty much right there with the GTX 670, for about $70 less. Vortez has the Zotac AMP! beating the 7970 in several benchmarks. Guru3d has it beating the 7950 boost edition in more than half of the benchmarks. The list goes on. You should ditch that Tom's review and put your faith in just about every other review on the web.

nice but I think that there's no way it's going to be under 350... they'd basically make 670 obsolete... why pay more than 50 for 5% or something extra performance that 670 has?
too bad I'm poor lol I would've got that but I got the 7850, still awesome, was cheaper than simple 560s in my country and has more power than stock 580.

Nice! That sounds promising. :)

Its basically a slightly gimped 670... I would consider it if I was on a budget, but I love voltage tweaking and that's something that nvidia just didn't deliver on.

Overclocked to 1255 mhz with 1333 mhz boost clock, also SLI results.

P9320 3DMark 11 overclocked score (comparable to GTX 680).
P15,855 3DMark 11 SLI score (compare to GTX 680 SLI at 14,500)

Thanks for the heads up Matto! 👍

I guess, you've got a point there.. However, how many frames would you increase at the highest of settings? 2 frames? 5 frames? These kepler cards are already at good good clock speeds, not to mention the many OC *editions.

*edit

On my 7970 I game at 1200/1650 since I never go below 60 fps in any of my games at those clocks although I can get a 1300/1800 stable. But in bf3 my average fps goes from 50 to 70 and never dropping below 60 just from the 925/1375 to 1200/1650 oc. The 7970 is very much a waste of money if you aren't going to overclock it to its full potential.

Exactly why the 660Ti is not.
At this performance level, the 660Ti doesn't have to be overclocked to justify its price! 😀

I waited 4 Months for this!!
Not to mention, the 6 months before that for the Ivy Bridge.
Never to think about, the 3 months to get the money. xD

That saying applies in the short term, as you can see.. it kills you in the long term. 😀

6 months for ivy must have been disappointing. I love my 3570k but ivy bridge could have been so much greater if Intel used a fluxless solder. I know people waiting for the radeon HD 8850/8870 for a future budget gaming rig upgrade, but by the time those are out, the gtx 760/760 ti speculation will have started. Its a neverending cycle and a gpu to oust the others for its price range will always be around the corner.

Na.. Not gonna wait for 8xxx series or the 7xx series or Haswell, now.
gonna finish it with the 660Ti and a 3570k, and yes.. Intel killed it with the Tim paste thing they did to Ivybridge.

Bro, its $299. :)
