680i and P35 chipsets bad?

Ok so I'm about to build my first system in about 4 years. Now I have been looking at both the 680i and the P35 chipsets. I have been doing some research on both. Is it just me or does the 680i and the P35 chipsets seem to be plauged with problems?

Just getting frustated with all the review I have been reading say no this one suck etc etc etc. So is one chipset better than the other for non-sli use(yes I know P35 is crossfire only)?

680i was released ages ago and P35 has been out a long while. BIOS updates are a good thing. ASUS and Gigabyte are dependable for providing outstanding products more often than not. If you are not planning on SLI, then P35 is the better choice.

Neither is bad. First generation 680iSLI models had problems. I had to get a newer revision form Evga for running Quads, a hassle but it was free. Lots of good bios updates and newer revision boards have solved most of the problems with 680i boards and I suspect something similar with P35. There's no guarantee early adopters of P38's (or any newer as yet to be released chipset boards) will fair any better or worse. You roll with what you buy and hope for the best.

Yes bios updates do help. Hopefully I wil not have any problems chipset that I chose. Going the P35 route. While sli is nice it is just going to have to wait for a bit.
