would a 7600gt be a good card for my system.

system:
mother board:Asus A8N-VM

processor:AMD ANTHLON 64 3200+

corsair 1 gb pc3200 400mhz

How come the 7600gt is only 128 bit and the 6800 regular is 256? I thought the 7600gt would be a better card.

The 7600GT is a better card because of the super-fast core and memory speeds. It would be even better if it was a 256-bit bus, but it's already fast.

Completely Awesome Card!!
Get the XFX XXX or the BFG OC and you'll be smokin' dem games like you ain't never seen. (BFG and XFX are like sis and bro co.'s, one in the same....))
Visual quality is superior to the 6800 in my other machine.
NVidia just keeps makin 'em better!

For the money... are there any two cards than can be put in SLI and be comparable to the 7600GT? ie: two 6800XT's are a little more $$ but would they be better than one 7600GT?

7600Gt at LEAST!!![/
At very least.
Get the amped up XXX or OC or whatever it says to let you know it's overclocked or special or what else they come up with.
GS is like running barefoot....you'd be better running with shoes on...get the GT.
"At LEAST."

It has a string wound tightly around its Gonads to keep it from moving too fast.
If it isn't important to have better speed, by all means get the 7600GS.
In fact, they make a 7300 that costs even less.
It's even less powerful.
Why not consider that?
Soon there may be a 7200 or 7100 with even less to get excited about.
My suggestion would be to wait till they scrape the bottom of the wafer barrel and see what they dig up.

If you have no real need of GPU on your graphic card to do much of anything aside from word processing, webmail, flash games, internet, and th elike then get a cheap PCI Express card.

If you are building an upgrade to last 2 to 3 years consider getting decent components.

IMHO, the 7600GS is not worth $120 spent. You can get a much faster card for less. x800GTO etc.

I love my 7600Gt and for that pricepoint recommend it.

check the link. Your 7600GS preference matches the x1600.

Consider your choice a year from now.

I considered that when I wanted a cheap card, but decided to pay more and put myself in a postion to SLI it later to squeaze alittle more out of my spcced platform...

future proofing as best you can in upgrades will stretch out your dollar further and longer.

IMHO

Check the benches... a 7600 GS is as fast as an X800 GTO, if not faster. In the $100 to $150 category, it's the best deal, and the core is very happy to overclock if you're so inclined.
Sure, the memory will hold you back, but for the price it still can't be beat.

Having said that, if you can afford it, and you're a gamer, the 7600 GT is money well spent.

The 7600GT is a very good card, despite only having a 128-bit interface memory. Its sheer value for money for the performance is enough to justify its purchase, since its excellent core/mem clock speeds and architecture make up for that rather crappy 128-bit interface.
