7600k/6700k/7700k for Gaming?

I'm building a new pc and I cant decide between 7600k, 6700k and 7700k CPUs. I'M NOT GOING TO UPGRADE CPU ANYTIME SOON, FOR ATLEAST 6-8 Years as then I would have to get a new Mobo etc.
This is the pc specs I have in mind.
GPU-GTX 1060 6GB
16GB DDR4 2800MHZ RAM
256 GB SSD
450/500w Power supply

Solution
I'd definitely keep that. Unless Ryzen is some insanely good future gen technology that just surpasses 5.0ghz like it's nothing, you're not going to do anything but waste time.

But, this is his thread.
Out of those three, the 7700k is the best bet for gaming.
I would VERY highly suggest waiting until March 2nd to see how the performance on the Ryzen 1700 is and what Intel's new prices are, because there's a pretty solid chance that the price on all of these drops. If you're looking for longevity and the benchmarks we've seen are right, the R7 1700 will be the way to go as AMD holds on to their sockets for longer and you'll get an 8C/16T chip for the same price as the 7700k.

No of threads doesn't matter to me as much as the single core performance does. Weirdly, AMD didn't showcase any single core benchmarks in their presentation, only multicore ones which show the superiority of 8c-16t processors. So I'm guessing the single core performance, which matters in gaming, wont be on par with the 7700k.
Price wise 7700k sits in between 1700 and 1700X here in India and they are within 20-30$ apart from each other.

I'm leaning more and more towards 7700k only.

I don't think they are gonna drop the prices in India as here the 7700K is Rs.28,000, 1700X-Rs.30,000 and the 1700 is Rs.25,000. Maybe in long run they may, but not now.

What we're trying to say is wait for ryzen to see if intel drops their prices. Intel will outperform more than likely in single thread operations or in relation to gaming.

Competition brings lower prices, which puts more money in your pocket.

But you want to keep your CPU for 6-8 years... why would you choose a 4C/8T processor over what will probably be an overclockable 8C/16T processor with 95% of the single core performance for the same price? They've already shown benchmarks wherein the 1700 and 1700X are roughly on par in single threaded applications with the 6900K. Just wait a couple weeks it'll be worth it. New games are already taking advantage of more than 4 cores, just because a 4C/8T CPU is the best processor for gaming now doesn't mean it will be 2 years down the road.

I'm literally in the same boat as you pretty much.. except I already bought the 7700k.. because I got it for $299 and paired it with a mobo at microcenter for an additional $30 off.. but now the Ryzen was just announced to be released on the 2nd and am contemplating returning these to buy that.. Just stopped me in my tracks before I bought everything else..

Intel has been known for better single thread support (which is what a lot of games base off of).

AMD Isn't bad, but it isn't the best for gaming. It's also the reason the 10 core 20 thread 6950x isn't a great gaming core as far as sole processing speed for a game. It's meant for multiple loads at once.

That's why I've always avoided them.. at least for the past 12-13 years or so.. but man it's really making me think hard about keeping the 7700k I just bought literally 4 days ago after the stuff announced today.

Sucks.. I'm just a Intel fanboy that I almost still don't even want the ryzen because lolAMD and the 7700k should easily handle everything for a few years still.. right? lol :pt1cable:

I'm not sure if I could get it cheaper than I already got it.. I practically got the 7700k for $269 by comboing a mobo purchase with it

MSRP updates will be very very likely happening from Intel. It is confirmed that Kaby Lake is faster in single core, so that's not the issue. I'm just pointing out the very likely possibility that Intel i7s are going down in prices (or as some suggested, release a new but cheaper i7 w/o Integrated graphics).

Ok so now a few of us have said the same thing. This seems to be going in a circle.

Let the OP read the posts. We're hijacking the thread.

Regardless, the ryzen has been announced. Still not as high as the Kaby lake. Has more cores and makes it appealing, but this isn't about that. It's about the three chips he asked about.

Out of the 3 now I've decided on 7700K. But I see that the Ryzen 1700 is cheaper and 1700X has same price as the 7700k that I'm getting so I'll wait for 2nd March as I haven't bought anything yet. Thanks a lot to all of you for the help!
