780 suffering from PCI x8.

I am looking to make a new build featuring the badass GTX 780. I want to "future-proof" myself and the motherboard I want to use has one PCI x16 for my first card, but if I want to SLI down the road, I have only PCI x8 slots left. Will the GTX 780 loose any performance if I put it in a PCI x8 slot?

As far as I know... to date there is no card that can yet saturate even the X8 bandwidth of a PCIe X16 slot. And if you have a 3.0 slot, you are even more future-proof.
