RT is still a hit and miss system .. 100% yes Nvidia are better at it but on the other hand Nvidia cards under the 4090 maybe 4080 still need upscaling to achieve decent frame rates at high resolution!!

Then take AMD well thats a no brainer its terrible on AMD cards !! better than 6000series but still WAY behind !!

But i dont think Intel is beating AMD in RT the new 9070 , 90 whatever lol cards ( that name is still stupid to me ) will be much better than Intel but Intel will win on price !!

People are still buying AMD and why because RT is either not a big concern to them or they are just not buying into Nvidia's crap !!

That is why RT is wanted but very hit and miss with consumers !!

I was expecting much better RT with my 7900xtx but NO .... then on the other hand there has not been a 7950xtx or a updated model of my 7900xtx since its release 2years ago so ive got basically the best of the best AMD has offered ( yes it falls short big time in RT and is really just a 4080 maybe 4080 super in raster but i also paid less than the 4080 and 4080 super )

( i truly love the mentality of Nvidia fans who buy most of Nvidia's crap at launch only to have it superseeded later on 4080 super 4070 super the 5 versions of the 4060 ) Nvidia loves their dumb customers !!

( I swear jensen gets a boner every time you guys upgrade to the better version of the same model !! )
The A770 is level with the 7700XT, the B580 which is a £250 low end card beats the 7600XT which is a £330 card. AMD also overpromise and under deliver.

Mate nvidia cards are just better at the moment and at this point where games are now requiring RT support it’s a valid point. Theres nothing fanboy about that. I actually bought a 7800XT and returned it, twice, because it just kept hard crashing (randomly I might add it would just do it at desktop and sometimes took hours to crash other times it was in 5 minutes). That was the same in two PCs one of them after a new PSU install and a new windows install. Put a 4070 in and it works fine with no issues.

No Nvidia are not better Fanboys just spew more BS ( usually about AMD drivers ) than AMD fanboys ..

Not sure if its because they want to defend their over priced lowbie Vramed card or if its their intention to deter people on the fence about which card they want to buy ( because god forbid AMD makes a cheaper better card than what they just purchased )

I know Nvidia has better RT but its still a so so system and to get true potential out of RT you need a 4080 or 4090.

RT is not a requirement otherwise there would not be a toggle to turn it on or off its a feature that most likely your 4070 would beat my 7900xtx in RT but would get crushed in raster FPS ..

So why do i need RT and unless your using DLSS the 4070 with RT it will not have decent FPS in any modern game !!

Nvidia's few big wins is in their editing software they seem to have better tools for that than AMD ...

Disregard the 4090 in this convo as everyone knows that the 4090 is the best of the best but it comes at a price that the majority of gamers cant afford or dont want to afford ..

And personally i think AMD are stupid for not fighting back with there own high end Nvidia beating flagship.

I have nothing against Nvidia cards in general they are good and RT is better !!

What i hate about Nvidia and why i dont buy them is there anti consumer , over priced , low vram , BS that they continually pull and fanboys eat it up !!

Most gamers are playing in the mid to low tier cards your 4070s 4060s 7900xt 7800xt .. ( to some degree the 7900xtx because its still came under the 4080 in price and traded blows in raster )

maybe count how many versions of the 4060 there is and "what are we at " 3 versions of the 4070 now ??

Thats Nvidia's shtick sell the crap to early adopters then super seed their crap with slightly better crap then sell the best card in that series towards the end of its lifespan .. ( so you never really own the best card until you get to the end and then there next gen is just around the corner )

all that at a premium price !! ( less Vram and usually more expensive than AMD )

AMD are less than a wholesome company as they are known for some stupid stuff to but far less anti consumer than Nvidia ..

As for your 7800xt every company makes lemons some cards are just bad be it AMD or Nvidia was it a reference card or was it a 3rd party card ??

I would say your issue was either just a bad 3rd party card or the driver not installed correctly ( which is not really AMDs fault ) i would point my finger at either you or the 3rd party maker of the card !!

Nvidia has driver issues to but they never really get reported certainly not as much as AMDs do !!

Ive owned 5 AMD cards all power color 5700xt red devil 6900xt red devil 7900xtx red devil 6700xt spectral white hellhound and the 6650xt sakura hellhound and yes ive had the odd little issue that was then fixed with a driver update ..

In fact i did have a crashing issue with my 7900xtx back when if first came out in which it would boost clocks while watching Youtube videos or just surfing the net to over 3ghz and crash the a card a week later new driver problem solved !! ( nothing since )

I do remember the vapor chamber issue the early reference 7900xt and 7900xtx's had but lets not forget the melting plugs the 4090s had !!

Until discounts hit there was really no reason to buy AMD over nvidia the last two generations. The only card I can think of which was clearly a better choice at launch was the 6700 XT. AMD's problem has been that they're not offering enough of a discount to offset the superior RT and upscaling. When I got my card I could have gotten a 6800 XT for ~$25-50 less, but the price difference simply made no sense.

I'd rather not support nvidia further right now and when I was looking at getting a backup card I ended up with a 6800 XT. That being said I understand why people aren't keen on getting AMD cards at launch and especially the expensive ones ($600+). I think AMD is going to be massively improving their RT and they've spoken of AI based upscaling. This should put them at a baseline feature parity at which point they become a viable alternative without conditions.

Playing nvidia's price games isn't going to get AMD anywhere because they're a nobody to the general consumer. If they want marketshare they need to do like Intel has with the B580 and put out something at a good price point which delivers something nothing else is at that point.
