A 5800x3d not worth it you reckon?
would 4x8sticks 3600 be better than 2x16?
A 5800x3d will be a upgrade but despite all this hype of x3d there are always limitations if the game loves the extra cache then great but if not its no better than the 5800x your currently using !!A 5800x3d not worth it you reckon?

The 5800x3d is a hot little cpu but far better than the 7000x series cpus .. a 280mm aio or a decent dual tower cooler is fine ..a 5800x3d is worth it if you can find one they run quite hot though.
the 3d cache is worth it for games.
4x8 sticks at 3600 at cl 16 is worth it if you can find it at a decent price
4x8 sticks at 3200 at cl 16 will get the job done just as well.

Ive had the 5800x3d and it a great CPU ..
Also remember there a gains be it smaller the higher the resolution with x3d gains are big in 1080p less in 1440p and small to nothing when your mostly GPU bound at 4k !
My round about answer is NO the 5800x3d is a a waste better off spending more buying the AM5 platform and sticking in a 7800x3d or 9800x3d with upgrade options !!
As for the 4x8gb .. i really dont know ive been livin in the M-ATX / ITX eco system for quite some time now and so i always use 2x16gb sticks .. ( there is never more than 2 ram slots )
Is 4 better that 2 i truly dont know !!
I did use 2 sticks of 8gb in my ATX msi MAG x570 Tommahawk board then upgraded with another 2x8gb but back then i never really tested to see the gains ..its a weird one but with zen 3 it takes advantage of the extra 2 sticks
and yes if the game loves cache it will benefit as resolution does goes up it becomes less noticable. but i wouldnt say its a waste even at 1440p the 1 percent lows get a advantage. but once as you point out at 4k its pretty much the gpu running the show damn anything else lol.
when i say waste i mean in the money sense ..
Maybe just my logic but spending extra on a dead platform is exactly that "a waste" there is to a point no real gains to be made ..
AM5 will ( if rumours are to be believed ) will support ZEN 6 so there is 3 gens of CPU's adding ddr5 and a possible new gen of CPU is to me is a better investment !!
only pcie port daisy chained???????
Hey, immediately stop this or your 7900xtx will burn down
fair call !it depends what you spend on again if you can get the x3d at a good price at current prices for say the 5800x3d is a no.
the best money wise sensible upgrade is just the ram then just use the pc till it cant support games.
i personally wouldn't jump to zen 5 platform unless it has pci gen 5 like b650 e. and by the time zen 6 comes around a new set of motherboards and features may be on the horizon by then. its why i haven't jumped of am4 myself.
ive got gen 4 and probly got another 3-4 years on this pc before it really needs a cpu and ram uplift.
it really depends on what you deem acceptable gaming experiance though.
for me 60-165 frames is playable and i can achieve that on am4.
100% dont daisy chain !!thats actually a good point how do you daisy chain these i missed that!
and why would ya need to on a 1000w lol
fair call !
Its never my intention when i say waste is to abuse what people choose i look at as more of my job to offer alternative ideas to come to a solution !!
AM4 is still a viable platform no doubt and the 5800x3d has breathed life into a dead platform in many ways i just see it as money that could be spent else where if a upgrade is what people are looking for .
From my understanding it depends on if the sticks are single rank or dual rank modules.A 5800x3d will be a upgrade but despite all this hype of x3d there are always limitations if the game loves the extra cache then great but if not its no better than the 5800x your currently using !!

It came like this!! But yes, it was my first thought when checking out the computer.thats actually a good point how do you daisy chain these i missed that!
