Hello there,
So I was recently playing Arma 3 ( a cpu/gpu intensive game) and during one long session, a smell of something burning started to occur in my PC, shortly before I could shut it down, the screen went black.
I let it rest for a while, gave it a boot and it was fine, until I logged in and the burning smell started again, and was accompanied by the black screen.

After taking out the 7970 from the PC, the intel graphics works fine, and can be used perfectly.

After placing the 7970 back in now the Bios doesn't even display, and i get an error code of 4f reading on my motherboard.

Specs

CPU : i5 3570k
GPU : Radeon 7970 with Arctic cooler triple fan
MOBO: Asrock extreme 6 z77
PSU : iCute 1000w
SSD : Trans 128gb

Thanks in advance for any response!

Best regards

Rhys

Same problem, different setup but with same issue. What brand is your card? Mines a VTX R9 270 and the think just smokes from around the psu connector area. Hope you get it sorted, only advice I can offer is not to try it again on your main rig as it may fry other bits.
