Hey Guys,

These are the two cards:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121638
OR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121560

I wont spend anymore atm because im australian and alot higher in australia.

I will eventually be going with sli or crossfire depending on what card i end up getting.

I would be overclocking the card and i will be playing MW3 and battlefield 3 and Minecraft.

Which should I go with for better performance gaming and rendering videos?

I agree with you there but i also think is there even a card that's actually worth what they charge for it personally i don't think so maybe the GTX 670 is worth it but other than that all are over priced IMO GTX 680 price really gets me bent out of shape if i am understanding right it only preforms 5% to 7% better than a 670 but cost $100 more :pfff: maybe i am wrong or missing something but if i am right just what the hell can justify $100 more for that little of performance gain 🙁

Thanks guys! Many people have now said maybe the 7970 instead of the 670 im not sure? I will be mainly playing BF3, MINECRAFT, MW3 and recording them meaning rendering aswell :)

I can understand why your confused these type of threads have always somewhat bothered me reason why is different fans of either company will go at it to no end usually a mod will notice and close the thread.Anyhow back to the issue at hand first i would like to apologize to you for still being unsure is there anything any of us could do that would make you feel convinced the GTX 670 is better no i am not saying that because i favor one company over the other truth be told i think both company are rip offs and only reason i buy anything from either of these Vultures company is because i have no other option So clearly i am a fanboy of neither and will give it to you straight.

Wait... minecraft? You never mentioned that! A puny 7950/670 won't cut it... you're in 690/7990 territory right there sir.

the only thing I'm a fan of is my wallet... bottom line is they are both incredible cards. If you can get the 7950 for at least 50$ less than nearly any 670, then go for it (you might not see the 8-10FPS @ 1080p difference if you keep everything stock, and no difference at ALL with a 950+ MHz overclock). Otherwise go for 670.

Thanks bigcyco!! Im now leaning very towards the 670 but i still would like to know your opinions on 7970 compared to 670 because 7970 is now possible card :) So should i stay with 670 or go with 7970?

Perfect example you should get my point now no less than five minutes had passed did someone say the other was the way to go IMO your not going to feel any less confused when all said and done the mods will close this thread i really hope you end up getting the right card for your needs all the best i am done here good luck, and god bless!!

Refer back to my original post. The logic still applies.

Your very welcome! As for your question i honestly don't know the answer according to Tom the 7970 has took it's crown back but other legit professional sites say they are neck and neck so i don't know which is right or wrong sorry i can't help answer that question

You see different benchmarks will say different things test benches differ from system to another system. And always performance gets improved with newer driver. That's why i don't feel i can answer your question there is allot more experienced fellas here who can help you though i just don't want to give you a answer to something i am unsure of hope that makes sense

lets face it, this generation of cards are great. no one wants to admit it(specially Nvidia guys), but the high end cards are the closes in performance in recent history. the only thing making one card better then the other is the price.

this thread has long passed the "critical post number" to make a logical decision 😛

This is essentially an AMD vs Nvidia question. and generally, if a thread like this goes past 10 posts and no decision has been made, later posts will repeat what has already been said and further confuse the OP lol. time to make a new thread and decide within 10 posts!

Why especially Nvidia guys sounds biased to me there no especially about it works both ways IMO and it's a bunch of petty bs no matter how you look at it allot more to life IMO

+1

well the guys that root for Nvidia have for so many years been able to say the are faster in almost every case when it came to top of the line, while the amd group stayed back to mention there price to performance advantage. now there isn't really any definite winner for fan boys, but the consumers have a larger selection of high end cards to pick from then ever before. this makes it sweet victory for all if you ask me.

cool, it's a great card. especially the ASUS model. awesome overclocking too. I'm sure you'll be happy with it :bounce: :bounce:

yeah... now AMD just needs to get back into the high-end CPU market... it's actually why I bought AMD this round. wanted to offer them some profits toward R&D. wishful thinking I know :pt1cable:

The way you purchase a video card, assuming you have no preference and the price is similar is this:

1) Decide which games you intend to play and see which cards offer the best performance in those games. You wrote that you intend to play MW3 and BF3:

cod4_1920_1200.gif

bf3_1920_1200.gif

Yes, that's with the catalyst 12.7 drivers.

2) Look at other factors that will make up the overall user experience, like noise levels:

and power consumption:

And finally, as I wrote earlier, take a look at the techology extras that you get with each card. Stack them up and see which card offers more add-on value.

OP, it seriously comes down to what programs you're using. Go with the 670, it's an excellent card and tends to perform better than the AMD equivalent when you're playing DirectX9 titles. As for myself, I'd buy the 79xx because I use GPGPU for bitcoin mining and a few other things; so again, it comes back to "buy whatever performs best for the games you're playing".

i think anybody would be bothered by not getting a straight answer that was never going to happen though would of just kept going back and forth with legit but petty reasons why one is better than the other on a side note congrats with your 670 it's a great choice although you wouldn't of regret going with either i don't think 😉 laters... :hello: P.S. i think mattoo17secs try to give you decent advice without trying to lure you one way or the other which was the right thing to do .And there were a few other members who try to do the right thing and not lure you towards either direction so don't feel to let down.

I regret my two TF3 6950 2GB no longer being used because one stopped working. Excellent cards that well out performed Nvidia counterparts for every game I played in 1080p including BF3. Easily had a lead on friends with dual 580s/570s in the battlefield 😛

I don't regret replacing them with two 670 2GB :) that give me even more immersion with nearly double the fps which is just nice because now I can aim for a 27" 1440p monitor. *Inb4notenoughvramrants*

VSYNC MASTER RACE IS BIRACIAL :pt1cable:

if you regret replacing two 6950 with the two 670 then you have some very unique un common issues i rma those 670 get something else since ATI seemed to work so well for you i am confused as to why you switched from a brand you had so much greater experience with but nevertheless rma those 670 something wrong with them trust me it's not possible anyone fanboy or not could regret having 670 over a 6950 something is not right with your cards
